I drive in "ECO" about 95% of the time. It's impossible when going up a steep grade or when trying to get around cars. It also obviously turns off when I'm stopped and idling at lights, etc.
I've found it remarkably easy to stay in "ECO" but I'm in a very flat area. It also does allow you to go up in revs while still not jumping into "MOREWARS" mode. You can see the threshold on one of the gauge readouts in the Opti-Tron, not sure about the SR5 gauges.

I'll chime in on that the break-in miles are going to be tighter and if none of you are even at 10,000 miles you are in most cases going to be lower than rated or common mpgs. Even 20k to 30k more miles might even show an increase.
Alot of cars and trucks will also be quicker in the 1/4 mile at 40k than they were at 5k miles.
No worries for you folks just let the engine break-in but realistic city would be 15-18 and solidly over 20mpg on the hwy but alot depends on the driver.

I try to stay in Eco mode as much as possible. Off the line, I can do it as long as nobody is behind me. But when someone is behind me, I tend to start off the line faster because I don't want them to think I'm a slow driver.
Also, there are times when I'm driving and feel the Eco light should be on and when it's not, I tend to take my foot off the gas to see when it will come on. This happens when going up a hill or slight grade.
One final note. Followed a friend to his house the other day and in order to keep up with his Denali, the Eco light was rarely on! If I drove like him, I'd be filling this thing up every day.

Interesting - how'd you reset the computer?Finally got to the dealership when someone could answer some questions for me about my average mpg. I reset my computer sitting there at the dealership and now I am proud to say I am getting around 19 mpg in the city. I'm a lot happier with that then the 15.7 it was showing. I know that it was probably actually getting 19 the whole time but it was just frustrating to see 15.7 everytime I went anywhere!

I'm starting to get nervous now...
My odometer is at 220 miles and I only have a quarter tank of gas left. My dealer originally filled the tank to full when I picked up the truck last week (wednesday) and I'm still running off that same tank of gas. Originally there was 1 mile on the truck. The way things are looking, I don't think I'm gonna go past 280 miles before my Empty light comes on. I drive 99% of the time on ECO mode, and my on-board computer states 14.7 mpg right now (the highest it's ever been in the week I've had it). I drive 50/50 city/hwy and DON'T have a lead foot.
I'm pretty sure I don't have a gas leak. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't be terribly concerned until you actually fill up the vehicle a couple times and run through a couple tanks. First, there is no proof that the dealer filled it all the way up. My GTI reads "full" well after I've gone through a couple gallons. It also reads empty with 2 gallons left in the tank. Your fuel economy will get better as the engine breaks in, too.

Well...what does your MPG computer tell you? If is says 21MPG I might be worried, if it say 12-14 then that should ok, but you would really have to have a 'lead foot'!

a couple tankfuls? really? dang, that is going to be EXPENSIVE!! especially if it turns out that things haven't improved after a couple tanks. but i guess i will have to try this.
it says 14.7, and i do NOT have a lead foot. in fact, i drive ECO mode almost 99% of the time (the other 1% is for steep inclines where i can't drive ECO otherwise i'll start rolling backwards lol).

Be patient... In the 4th gen the 4.0L takes forever to break in. Many of us noticed improvement through 7k-8k miles. I've read a little on the FJC's and Taco's too, they seem to do the same thing. I know the 5th gen engine is a bit different but I'd expect a long break-in period.
