Looking good! Mine arrived today. Now I need to figure out how I'm going to install this 31M into the engine bay with the V8.

Thanks! That thing is gonna have to weight 80+ lbs. Mine weighed 70. Heaviest battery I've ever seen.

Hey 31M battery installers!
Has anyone mounted a battery charger in their rig? If so, what charger did you go with and where did you mount it? Also, did you mount an external plug for charging?
Trying to get ideas for ease of operation when charging. Don't want to leave my hood unlatched outside my house.

This is what I use. It include pigtails to attach to the battery with a rubber port seal/lid. Makes it easy for connecting/disconnecting. Been using it for 3 years on my 31M, which I just replaced with the 27F from this GB.

I attached the pigtails plug to my battery (pigtail plug stays in the engine bay) and the charger to my garage wall. I use the charger for other batteries/vehicles. If you don't want to pop the hood each time, you can use this extension to connect to the pigtails plug and have the other end sitting where you can connect easier (e.g. front bumper):

The 31M toasted 2 alternators. I'm about to do to extended overland trips and don't have time to install a higher output alternator, so I jumped on the 27f. Plus, the 31M was in its 4th year and I was concerned about relying on it for the upcoming trips. Eventually I will purchase and install the Singer alternator.

Finally putting my 31m in today. Perhaps [MENTION=122940]ramonortiz55[/MENTION] can hook us up with a GB on these chargers?
Is this a common problem? I have not heard of it from anyone else yet. What state of charge have you been running it down to? Curious why it took out 2 alternators in 4 years as i am wanting to buy a 31m for a single battery install.. But if the alternator cant handle 1 how on earth would it handle a dual battery setup....

You will have to extend the for 31M, thats why 27F is a better way to go, almost the same capacity and it actually fits.
Still no resolution. Getting frustrated.
Question, What is the AmpHour difference between a Group 27F and 31? Would like to stick with the simplicity of the 27F, but since I'm powering a fridge off just the one battery I want to make sure it will handle powering it for a couple days and still have enough juice to start the truck.
