COB's 87 4Runner Turbo

The request is this: the rubber vents in the outer plastic B-Pillar assembly between the front doors and top have disintegrated and noticed the driver side of yours had been removed, please tell me how this assembly is removed from the pillar to gain access to the rubber seals. I am not sure if the complete assembly is offered any longer, or at least have not found it, but read another thread where a guy cut strips from an inner tube and glued them in place. While the assembly is out I also want to repaint or gold leaf the logo. I am really afraid to just start prying on the plastic and hoped you would share how to remove this assembly.

Probably too late on my part, but either way, I broke it getting it off. The clips were so brittle that they didn't hold up. I was going to find alternate means of mounting it. Good idea on the logo, I've been slacking on refinishing mine.

Really like the look of the black and red! Motivating me to paint mine

The tires are 265/75/16 or 32". They're going in the trash soon, they're much too old and dry cracked. The 22R-TE isn't exactly record breaking, I wonder how it will handle large tires with stock gears. The next tires are going to be 265/70/16.

This truck was missing a windshield wiper reservoir. Got this one from the junkyard. I pulled it out of a 90's pickup. Looks like it was originally from a 2nd gen 4Runner because it has two pumps. Fits though.

Replaced the 45 degree silicone bend coupler from turbo to intake pipe. The angle was not sharp enough, the new one is a 60 degree.

Replaced Radiator cap and wire wheeled the intake pipe. Going to paint it the same silver as the wheels.

While installing the pipe, I decided against reusing the factory coolant hardpipe that is welded to the intake pipe, for heat soak purposes. A section of 3/8 hose straight from radiator to turbo has been used instead.

Gonna have a downpipe made, and then redo the whole brake system with S13WB calipers and 1 1/16" bore master cylinder.

JohnsD90 was in CA for a few days. We hung out and he gave me a couple things he had laying around. Clutch start cancel buttons The faded one I found at the junkyard, which I cut the harness for use with the nicer one John gave me. Parts to hold onto for the eventual manual transmission swap.

The battery also died, swapped it out with another of the same type. The 2nd gen wiper reservoir mount conflicted with the battery tie down, so I got another bracket from a 1st gen at the junkyard.

Did up a new battery tray/spacer out of hard foam. Put some foam between the wiper reservoir to keep the battery from wiggling around.

Also bought a set of used B-pillar trim pieces and an ashtray with bracket. Those are being shipped and should be in Tuesday.

Frankly, I think it makes no sense for Toyota to have gone full automatic on these Turbo 4Runners. Luxury or not, manual transmissions belong in these things.

The belts were very dirty with 26 years worth of build up on them. The driver's side was stiff with nasty build up. Grabbed a bucket, filled it with water. Mixed in degreaser, car wash soap, crazy clean, and laundry detergent. They're currently soaking and the water color has turned a nasty brown (EDIT: turned green since). Down right nauseating.
