Bilstein 5100 all the way around, shocks set at 2.5 in the front- $358 on eBay

2012 Fj cruiser shocks with around 10k miles on them all the way around-$100 found on Craigslist

Origionally had the XREAS suspension on my 03 4Runner and wanted to get a beefy look so I swapped them with 5100s and FJ shocks and love how it turned out. Gained 2.5 in the front and 2.0 in the rear. Right now there is 265/65/17 on it but plan on getting 275/70/17 bfg ko2 this week. I'm stoked. Ride is great. First time poster here but long time reader. Stay tuned for more[emoji48]

How are your upper control arms looking? Also, did your ride quality change at all after the lift?

fj/5100 lift for 4runner limited 2005 V8

Just finished my lift with some help from a fellow member! Fj coils all around! Bilstein set at 2.5 in front and spacer in rear. Little bit of rake but I don't mind!

Those of you who have done Bilstein 5100's @ 2.5" in the front with Moog FJC's all around + a Daystar 1.5" spacer in the rear...

How are your alignment numbers?
Did you need an aftermarket UCA?
Pics?

I'm currently @ 1.75" with Moog FJCs all around. No rear spacer.

im doing that exact setup but front set to 2.5. i also went ahead and got me a camburg UCA with moog bj. they say anything 3" or more you will need to upgrade the UCA. but are you 4wd or 2wd?

well i went to go to my buddies place last night. he is the one doing the work for me and i got the suspension all done. front is set to 2.5 and the rear im using a 1.5 daystar spacer. i notice a slight reverse rake. in the future if i want to put a taller spring the the rear without the spacer which ones would you guys recommend

Good to know. I'll have to debate whether I will go the 3"+ lift by going to the 2.5" setting... I'm 4wd..

someone suggest OME rear 2" heavy duty springs if you do a 2.5 lift in the front. Just so you wont experience the rake. but im hoping my front settles in given im v8. Do you have a diff drop and sway bar relocate kit with your lifT?

Good to know. I might just opt to keep mine where its at then, unless I find a good reason to get a lift + tires again.

Alright guys, Iv been rockin the 5100(.85)/5160 with FJ coils for a few months now and just wanted to write a quick review/throw out a question.

I measured again now that I have put several thousand miles on the setup and it is definitely broken in. The measurements came out to (with 3/4 full tank):

FL: 35 1/4th
FR: 35 3/4th

RR: 36 1/2
LR- 36

So basically the front right is sitting half an inch lower than the front left. I'm not too concerned about it altho I was expecting the OEM FJ springs to account for the lean better. One thought I had was that the springs might have been installed on the wrong sides? What do you guys think?

Anyway, the ride is awesome! I drive a lot on mountain roads and the xreas felt flat and tight but they also felt lurchy and touchy. The FJ/5100 setup also feels tight and flat but without the unpredictable nature of the xreas.

Compared to xreas, the 5100/fJ feels amazing on fire roads and super light off roading. It doesnt feel like it bottoms out or tops out over bumps the same way that the xreas would. The slightly added clearance also feels fairly significant.

Overall, it feels different but in a really good way. I was worried about how the car would handle when raising its center of gravity but it still handles great.

Advice Please

Hi guys,

I've got a complicated one for you

New to the forum, looking for a little advice. I've got a 2005 limited V6, currently running a daystar 2.5/1.5 on stock suspension. I'm going to replace it with bilstein 5100s that came off a 2014 4runner with 15k. The front struts are assembled, so I'm going to use the springs off the newer 4runner with the new front struts. I'm going to replace the rear shocks, but leave the stock springs with the 1.5" spacer.

Here's the kicker, I just installed an ARB bull bar, so I've got extra weight up front. Do you guys think I should run the front struts at 1.75 or 2.5"? From the sound of it I will get a bit of lift just out of running the newer front springs.

I don't have a winch right now, but may get one at some point in the future.

Other factor to make it complicated: the truck has 207k so I imagine the rear springs are a little tired.

Here's a pic of how she sits right now, just for kicks

My understanding is that simply raising the strut to account for the extra weight could be seen as cutting corners. Ideally, I think you would go with a heavier spring to maintain drive quality.

Don't the 5th gen 4runners have a heavier spring rate than the 4th gen? Either way I think an OEM spring with 15k will handle better than an OEM with 207k haha

mmm i'm not sure...I was kinda under the impression that they werent too much different but I could easily be remembering wrong. Id definitely agree that a new spring will feel great either way.

I highly recommend replacing the rear springs as well. I just put OME's on my '05 and was amazed to get about 3" of relative lift with my 5100's set to 0. I replaced front springs first but couldn't do the rear until I could get my sway bar end links disconnected. The ride is really nice on the street, hoping to do some mild off road soon. Cheers.

So as we all know the Moog FJ rear springs don't seat perfectly. Has anyone had issues with them seeming to lift off the perch or away from the body? I noticed when I go over a speed bump anything in the back gets tossed and it comes down super harsh, off-road it's even worse. Or is it my shocks? Brand new FJ TRD pro shocks

lift advice

Read this thread a few times, finally pulled the trigger to upgrade the tired suspension in my 2003 V8 SR5. Went with Bilstein 5100 all 4 corners 2015 FJ takeoff springs X4 and a steel 1" rear coil spacer. Not wheeling just occasional beach driving. Dont mind a small rake would prefer level but definately dont want a negative rake! My question is where to set the front Bilsteins at? 1.75 or 2.5?
Ive seen people set them at 2.5 with a 1.5" rear daystar spacer and have minimal rake. Havent seen anyone use a 1" rear?

thanks

I did 2.5 up front and a 1.5 spacer up front and my rig looks quite level with no visible rake. And it looks really good. plus im running 285/70/17 tires. But only downside is that my speedo is off by 5mph. So at 50mph im really doing 55. other then that it looks great,
