Yes or no, Driver's side CV axle, is it ok to have a bit of play in the lateral direction, between the differential housing and the end of the CV axle that gets inserted?
----
Installed new Type-T oil seal. Took my time installing and almost 20m of gentle taps to get to the right depth.
The repair manual is not clear on how much depth the T-Seal should be installed at. I suppose the SST tool used in the repair manual must set the depth correctly.
During install, I hear the click of the c-clip. It's solid in there. But then I can manually pull on the inside CV housing and the CV Axle pulls away from the differential housing by about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch.
----
Is my seal installed to the wrong depth? Something else going on?
Inspected all the splines on CV axle and inside the housing and no chips, dents, or cracks. They look good. The locking clip, cv boots, grease, are new and OEM. The CV axles are original and came with the vehicle.
