LOL ya it sparked at me I was like "Sheeeeeeet did I just blow all my new lights?" Seems every Neo 3 is on that fuse cause they all went out haha then I had to start guessing fuses because the manual isn't exactly detailed, just says "Instrument lights" like 4 different places

So you know you should keep a pack of 10A fuses for the tail spot lol.

Also, take your damn keys out when you plug/unplug stuff. Didn't you learn that?

If you put the bulbs in and tap the connections quickly, you will end up blowing the fuse.

That being said, if you take the keys out of the ignition, you won't have this problem at all

I finally got some time to get the pics. Here they are. First, some details on the type of bulbs I swapped out.

Here is what I found out. These specs are for a 2009 4Runner with the Urban Runner trim package.

LCD Display
2 10mm bulbs

Control knobs
3 8mm bulbs

Defroster and Recirculate buttons
2 8mm bulbs

Reset/Mode buttons
1 8mm bulb

These are measurements that I took of the original bulbs. I had used the info in this thread to make my own LED replacement bulbs. I bought the LEDs and resistors, soldered each of them up, and replaced them. I had some trouble with some of the LEDs flickering, which started me on my search for a straight replacement LED. I found them at superbriteleds.com. Here is what I purchased.

2 NEO4-W 10mm White LEDs (2 @ $1.29 ea)
6 NEO3-W 8mm White LEDs (6 @ $1.29 ea)

They were very easy to install. Simply unscrew the olds one, and put in the new LEDs. I gave them 1/4 of a turn to lock in place, then powered up the display to confirm polarity on the LEDs.

Here is an after picture. Please note that the HVAC knobs in the middle and on the right have the DIY LEDs installed. The HVAC knob on the left has the NEO style purchased from superbriteleds.com. I'll try to get a pic of the after because I swapped out all of the DIY LEDs for the NEO style.

Here is a shot of the back of the HVAC unit. I marked the different LEDs accordingly.

It was definitely a challenge to solder the LEDs and resistors in the small bulb holder. I also had to drill out the two openings for the legs of the LEDs as they were larger than the stock bulbs that I replaced. If I had it to do again, I would opt to buy the new LEDs instead of making my own.

I went to the website and both the neo3 and neo4 only show 3,4 and 5mm. I can not seem to find the 8mm or 10 mm version. Am I missing something?

Personally it makes no sense to me. I only get the 3 and 4mm Neo bulbs

Does anyone have a write up to make my AC/4WD/rear window/ ect all LED lights like this picture? I am sure it is in this thread somewhere but I couldn't find it. Also, what bulbs do I need to buy? I am wanting to add all these led's and add led's to the dome lights in the front, trunk and the door lights. Advise needed! thanks!

I do a LED mod for the 4x4 knob.

All the other bulbs for buttons etc. are the Neo 3 and two Neo 4 for the hvac screen. Riceandpho can tell ya how to do the 12v mod for the hvac screen.

Let me know if you're interested in some of this sexiness

I just listed you need Neo 3 for all your switches in the cabin.

I don't know what's needed for the door or dome lights. Never done em and I don't have a strong desire to do so.

Neo 3 from superbrightleds.com if you want to go LED, and you need to sand the top down. If you want OEM, go to toyota

All them pretty colors on the gauges and boring old stock dome lights?!?!

Man go get some 6000k 48 LED panels for your dome lights at least they are so nice to have and even opening my door turns heads when its dark out lol

Maybe for Christmas. This site is killing me. I'm not allowed to spend ANY money unless its necessary until I pay my dad back for my transmission blunder. All my mods will happen eventually. Just a matter of time! Til then, I keep a flashlight in that little pocket in front of the arm rest when my interior is intact; right now I have steel floors and the two front seats- that's it... I'm in race car mode! Weight reduction ftw! Only problem is I have no pulling power anymore cause my clutch packs are slipping like crazy

I order NEO3 High Power LEDs for my switches. It looks like you got the non High power ones in the sand paper pic. Have you used the High Power ones as well? Also did you use just a file to open up the holes more?

Yes I used a little round file. The non-HP work well for me!

I haven't tried the HP personally
