Word! Thanks dude, yeah I had really no idea on the resistors. BTW do you kno what bulbs are in the cup holders an the gear box? And the arrows for the HVAC, are they the same as the gauges?

you can try Superbrightleds.com. here is a link directly to the neowedge style LED's.
I want to say i tried something like this initially, but they wouldn't fit because the piece that holds the LED (shaft?) is a larger diameter than stock. i could be wrong but just want to call it out for you. I never used a caliper to measure the difference but it might be worth doing before ordering them.
as another FYI for others considering to do this, if these do work you can only use them for the HVAC where the light is directly above the LED. You don't want to use these for the switches since not aiming the LEDs towards the button itself will leave them very dim.

the neo3 will work to light up the climate controls and the recirculate and defrost, the lcd screen is neo4.

well going with 1k instead of 1.2k actually means you're allowing more power to the LED. are you talking about the display or the entire HVAC unit (selectors and buttons)?
I'm going to assume you're using Blue LED's to match your cluster. what is the voltage across the LED? I know the white LED's is 3.0-3.2V.
Also i just saw your earlier question about the arrows. the arrows are the same as the LED's you're using for the bulb holders and switches. I haven't gotten around to replace those yet but they will need a resistor on those too.

I like the look of the white but I am in the process of moving to Florida so it may have to wait for later. What I would like to do is fix the amber backlight in the center LCD cluster display (the one directly below the stereo) and above the climate controls. I pulled it out when I added a VAIStech adapter for my iPod and I think I either broke/damaged the current bulb.
The numbers (i.e. temperature/mpg/avg speed) in black are still fine but the drivers side half of the panel no longer has an amber backlight.
What part do I need/is this an easy fix (assuming I just want to replace it to get it looking like stock?
I already tried removing the panel and reinstalling the connector to see if I somehow didn't have the contacts touching but no go.

It could be as simple as the bulb going out. i think the entire part (bulb and bulb holder) is around $7. just buy and replace. not sure of the part number but just pull it out and replace it with a working one to make sure that is what causing the issue.

$6.32 and about 5 minutes fixed the problem. Just be careful as there are two different styles of bulbs in that cluster.

my problem is that i'm getting an uneven light output for the three HVAC (Fan/Temp/Position) buttons. it seems like the bottom left corner is the brightest and the other parts are dim. i've tried pointing the LED towards the center a bit, but it seems like Darkie didn't angle them at all. i'm talking about the long skinny bulb holders.
any reason why this is or how i can fix it? thanks guys :sadwave:
