Turns out your right! The hoses and wires really didnt agree while they wrapped around the axle! I didn't mind the vibration much... But suddenly the ride got smooth when i hit the highway.. And the VERY impatient cop that kept trying to swerve around me didnt like it much atall after I stopped to see what the fuss was about!!! He THREW me on his hood and was trying to grab my hands.. I'm guessing he needed to use my hand to scold me about leaving a water pump in his windshield.. Anyway, he wasnt so nice when I grabbed it and said "oh, there it is!" And started to leave... I never want to be tazzed again! That just hurts! Rude I tell you! Rude!

Granted, its got to be a sunny summer day. If not, I just warm some water on the camp stove or over camp fire.

Where did you tap into the coolant?

From the heatercore return line. On a first gen the flow of coolant to the heater core is regulated by a valve on the feed line in. The valve is controlled directly from the hot cold air selector on the dash giving me 100% controll over how fast I'm heating the HEX. The inlet side only has a small section of hose behind the controll valve so I decided to use the return line.
I'm not sure if newer models regulate the heater core temp the same way. But the HEX can be plumbed in the same way no matter. And you could use a simple open/close valve between the core outlet and the HEX to get the same results. I'll draw a schematic and put it up with the full write up once I get a chance.. Including the do's and donts! Lol

I have 3 filters before the pump. The first is the big chrome one, its actually a "gental soaker" made for dense watering of trees and shrubs.. But seems the right thing for the first stage of filtering... The other two filters are screen filters that I put in the intake hose on both ends.. With the finest mesh one on the side that connects to the truck. I'm also considering using a small bucket with holes drilled in it near the top (so it can still be used as a bucket for whatever else) to place in the water with a rock to keep it in place, then putting the inlet in that.. So it keeps even the biggest stuff off the intake and keeps the intake from sucking anything off the bottom of the stream/lake.. Plus serve as a simple place to keep any shower things; hoses mainly but whatever else as well.

And one of it in action, it was about 50deg out when I took the pic. You can kinda see the steam comming off, but it was windy too.

Of course I'm sure allot of you guys could blow me away with details and exact stats of what I put together, but what I know is; it works great! Its not very hard to do and its gonna make me a happy camper! Lol

What is the original size of the heater core hose? Should it be 5/8" ?

Did you use any adapter to connect the original heater core hose to the Heat Exchanger?
