Speaking of work. Last weekend, I was able to hold the first "Teardrops 101 class" for the company. It's where we invite interested customers to the showroom, have a free BBQ, and engage with all of them on a personal level. The owner of the company talks about the history of the company, teardrops, and what the company is all about. It's quite a fun and educational time with like minded individuals. I was tasked to talk about the specialty off road market regarding teardrops and actually ended up selling another custom Recon build.

Also got a some new glass for the Nikon. Went out with [MENTION=78318]RiDE[/MENTION] to break it in. I'm far from professional and will gladly admit it. But the only way to get better with anything is to keep trying.
We went into downtown Portland and played with some night time photography.
The infamous Burnside Skatepark at 1am. Just happened to have someone drive by and I thought it tuned out pretty cool.
Hopefully, I'll get better at this so I can take better nighttime camp photos.

Yup! I hope you're ready to learn how to take things apart and wire stuff up!
Speaking of which...
I've gotta be more prepared for my upcoming EPIC trip this summer! I'll dive into details a little later.
I went with the Yaesu FT8900 because of the consistently great reviews and known reliability of the company.
Also cleaned up wiring from previous installs.
Out with the old Painless Wiring system and in came the cleaner, much nicer Blue Sea Systems 12 bank fuse box.
Found a good place under the drivers seat for the main unit. Plenty of room and it's away from the floor vents.
I'll ultimately get an extension for the mic and route the wiring behind the dash and exit on the left of the console.
So all you'll see is the faceplate.

Speaking on TD's to an average consumer ...and reaching the Overland community, are at times (from the outside looking in) are about as similar as comparing raincoats to rubbers..they both keep you dry, but they both offer varying degrees of protection from inclimate weather

I've taken a fair bit of the cabin apart before, so I'm not scared. But I like how you ran the power and antenna cable down the right trim piece under the dash and along the kick panel/floor board so it popped up under the front seat.
We'll do something like that on mine, just on the right front seat as compared to the driver's side.
Really stoked to get that installed and thank you in advance, Bobby.

Yeah... tell me about it. "But why would I want a fully boxed frame?"... If you're asking then you don't Hahhahahaha
TeardropsNW isn't going to compete with the Moby1s and SoCals out there, but it's a really nice filler between those and the *ahem* Little Guys. There's a huge market that's not willing to drop 40K on a trailer that doesn't have the amenities of a 5th wheel.
On a side note.... loving the revamped fuse panel/hot shower system!

Spent some time today working on the truck. Thanks to [MENTION=64805]SC0TT[/MENTION], I got a great deal on some Fox remote resi rears to replace the leaking Bilstiens.
Out with the old, in with the new. "Custom" valving for the Duc!
Also had another happy customer at the Ducmonsta Garage!
We replaced @RiDE's rear springs to prepare for the SSS rear bumper install in a couple of weeks.
Also wired up a custom plug for his Renogy solar power set up. Stealth install!
By the way, if I'm working with you on your truck, you MUST wear neon blue socks in my garage hahahahahhahaha!!!

Nice upgrade on the rear. I am trying to decide which Fox shocks I am going to go with in the rear. Leaning towards the DSCs to match the front.

Just did a 1.5hr drive each way to Salem, Or. Honestly, at the lowest valve setting, It didn't feel much different than the 5100s. The test will be while I'm towing the Recon out to the beach this weekend. I didn't have any major complaints about the 5100s to begin with. It was just a deal I couldn't pass up and the 5100s were leaking anyway.

So I started reading this thread from the beginning last night and I just finished minutes ago. I feel like I have read and been part of a small chapter of your life family's life. I can't thank you enough for sharing all of your pictures with all of us. It's also really cool that you and your wife were able to snorkel in "illegal waters" it's not often we get to do things like that and not get in trouble.
As for the truck it's pretty nice rig and I love the upgrades. Especially the front bumper.
Please keep posting pic and I hope to start sharing my adventures soon.

I am 2x Cancer survivor and my goal was to put enough money away for my kids college funds and then start having fun. I do need to pull back a little bit in case I live a little longer then I planned.
Well, I first need to finish up the front end swap on mine. Then I will pull back a little.

Finalized the ham radio install today. Got a CBI ditch light bracket courtesy of [MENTION=124732]LawnDart[/MENTION].
I remember other members having an issue with clearance for the plastic cowling on the windshield. I initially installed the bracket to get a better understanding of what the problem was. It also made the hood stick up at the corners about 1/4" and the OCD part of me couldn't live with it. So here was my solution...
I made a slotted hole to make room for the little bump on the windshield cowling. I've seen some others take a heat gun or even cut the cowling. I figured I'd modify the bracket before I modified the truck. I also took a die grinder to the corner where the hood meets the bracket. You'll see the unpainted parts here of what was modified.
Now there is more room for the bracket to be adjusted and get the hood aligned.
Here's a bit of a close up of where the cowl now "peeks" through the hole I created.
It could probably use a little more material removal but as long as it doesn't create that unsightly gap at the hood anymore, I'm satisfied.
Went with the Pulse/Larsen NMO2/70 antenna.

This past weekend, I met up with a few folks from a local group, OTO PDX Overlanders at the beach. Pretty good group of folks and definitely had a blast.
It was also a great practice run for me and the kids. Wife was out of town attending a wedding back east. This summer, the kids and I are doing a cross country road trip so I figured I'd better get some practice single "dadding" on the road.
