Not too much to report here. The move has been working me hard. There are a lot of things to "make my own" in the new home. Lots of projects here and there so there hasn't been a ton of time to work on my truck. I have, however, been working on the place where I'll be doing any future mods, ie. the garage.
I have a pretty clean slate to work with. Just have to configure how I want to make it work. The family and I will ultimately own an off road teardrop or pop up in the not so distant future. So, I've got to plan a little ahead for that space.
Anyway, here's what I've got to work with.

This is also going to be our main storage area. Apparently, Vancouver, Wa doesn't believe in having ample attic space in their homes. I understand why there are very few basements, but c'mon. So, I need to solve the storage area. I also need some space for the RC collection and tools. They used to reside in my former "hobby" room at the old place. And now, I've been allowed the garage and nothing more. Which isn't a bad deal since I'm moving up from a tiny one car garage.

The past several weeks have allowed me to enjoy the time with my kids and explore the new to me area. We love it so far. It's also given me time to get crackin on the garage.
I need to move the RTT around a bit, so I fabricated my own little dolly, if you will. Some 2x4s, 4 casters, and some screws should do the trick. This will allow me to move it around while I mud, prime, and paint the walls and ceiling.

I had to resolve the storage issue. I found these overhead storage racks from Costco (thanks, [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION]). Costco was having a serious sale on these things. They retail for $249 and Costco had them for $149 with free shipping. They measure out to 4x8 and have different desired drops. I only took mine down to about 32" because of the garage door. Those are the boxes you see in the last pic. So, I've got 24' spanning across the entire front of the garage.

My father in law came to visit us that weekend to help out with some odds and ends around the house. And of course, to visit the grand kids.
So we took a day trip out to Astoria, OR. If you're old like me, you'll remember the...
Of course I did the "Truffle Shuffle", found no "booty traps", and definitely said, "this is our time, it's our time down here..."

Glad you're enjoying the new area, Duc. We enjoy the Oregon coast and Columbia river. If you get the chance to go to southern Oregon, there is awesome wheeling on the dunes down there. And you can drive on the beach

This past weekend was my first day trip to Mt. St. Helens. We didn't hike up her because we had our kids in tow. Not really sure a 4 and 6 year old are prepared for that. Although, my wife and I definitely didn't win parents of the year on this trip. We took them on a hike off the side of a pretty steep ridge. I wish the pics capture how steep it was. It's definitely a single track and when you needed to hold a childs hand, you had to do so while walking in front or back of them.

Yup, totally know about it. I spent a couple of nights there back in 2005 on my last cross country trip. Such an awesome place. We're definitely going back again soon.

Glad you are settling in well. We are having an abnormal fall this year. Very dry for October. Guess our record setting rain in Sept held us over for a while. You will get used to the rain here though. It is a beautiful area and Mt. St. Helens is one of my favorite places to hike around. There are some awesome hikes on the South side of the mountain as well (ie. Lava Canyon / Ape Caves, etc.). Lava Canyon is currently closed because of a washout right now though.
Surprised I haven't seen you around. I am always traveling through Vancouver since I am only 10 minutes East of town.

Looks like you guys are settling in nicely... My folks used to rope me and my brother on the narrow mountain trails and ravine boardwalks when we were growing up. Length of rope with a carabiner on each end and just hook to their belt and yours..... and I turned out okay LMAO... :whoo:

I'm definitely going to hit those up. One of the biggest benefits to being married to the "Community Engagement Officer" of the Gifford Pintchot National Forest is all the secret ins and outs of the land. I can officially enter certain parts of the forest through hidden FS roads.
