Right there with you buddy, I had to do some stucco patch on the house as I get things ready for paint outside. Huff no trips planned

Welp, I thought for sure it was yours. VERY few if any modified 5th gens around these parts, that's why it stuck out so much. You seem to have a twin in the NW then, appeared to be from the Westside (Seattle Area) all blacked out, Gobi RR & ladder, ARB front, same style black rims on Toyo's.

On another note, I have been MIA for the past two weeks. Long story short, there were 2 deaths in my family within days of each other. I lost my grandmother who raised me as a child and my father in law 3 days later. Needless to say, it's been a two week roller coaster of emotions and travel. Now it's time to get back to some normalcy. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Bobby, I'm sorry to hear that! Prayers to you and both your families, loosing someone is never easy. Thanks for sharing with us here so we can keep you in our prayers.

Went to a clam dig for the first time in my life. What a blast! I don't know if we got lucky or it's really that easy, but we reached our limit within an hour of being there (Long Beach, Or). Which worked out great since we had time to start a fire and grill up some hot dogs and smores at 10am.

Found a pretty nice secluded part of the beach.


Set up base camp with some of my wife's work friends and their families.


My kid tearin' up the 10am hot dog in the shade.


Overall it was a great time. I love experiencing new things here in the PNW.

In the last picture, how critical are the water jugs with bungee cords to hold down the awning? How much wind can they handle, assuming the wind is traveling perpendicular to the direction of your truck?

It actually wasn't a necessity. There was virtually no wind, surprisingly. I used the jug because I was too lazy to stake it down in the sand. But, you should always stake the awning down. Do as I say, not as I do.

Fourth, I'm not a huge fan of "diamond plate". It looks better in black, but just reminds me too much of contractor tool boxes in pick up beds. Some manufactures don't offer any step plates. That was a deal killer. I have 2 small children (3 and 5) that need a decent step. And when I saw the "dimple die" option...

I'm trying to find something that will not only provide the protection and clearance of sliders, but will also give enough of a step that my wife and 4 year old can actually get into the vehicle without too much work. How have these ended up working out for you? I've heard the Budbuilts aren't enough of a step, and you're the only person I've seen speak specifically to toddlers with their sliders...thanks!

The kids love it. The grandparents use it (after I put on some grip tape).

I think the bud builts have too much of a bump out. In fact, that's one of the reasons I went with the OPOR (Metal Tech) sliders.

Good to know, thanks! I'd much rather have sliders if there is still value in it for getting into all the doors for my wife and daughter. What grip did you end up going with, and do you happen to have any pictures of how it turned out?

Went to Swift Reservoir in Wa and did some boat camping. We had an entire island to ourselves. It's hard to miss home when you have opportunities like this.

Also picked up the Black Butte ground tent from the CVT group buy. Broke it in 2 weekends ago near Bend, Or. This time we get to use it on our own little island.

And how we get to the island...

So far, I can't get enough of this state.

On the way home on Sunday afternoon, we stopped by the Ape Caves. You can walk in the caves created by Mt St Helens when she erupted. Pretty cool stuff.

And then you can crawl through lava tubes created by the roots of burned down trees. I took a peek but there's no way my fatass is going to fit.
