Extended the AC condensate hose over to wheel well, and ruined the fan/resistor

I caused my own problem trying to make something better. LOL. I saw the condensation hose was draining onto the frame rail about 3 months ago and decided to extend it. Everything looked great and functioned well. I used a brass hose splice and 3/8” hose. Fast forward to this week. My blower fan would only run in high speed. I replaced the resistor and for a quick drive it worked again, then began malfunctioning again. Then the fan would shut off altogether and ordered a new fan thinking the fan was killing the resistor. Went to install it, and some water dripped out of the electrical connection . WTH? Oh great, rain is getting in from somewhere. I look at the filter and its dry. WTF.? Removed the fan and it looked okay. Removed the resistor and its soaked. WTF? I checked the drain hose, nothing abnormal. I removed the hose extension and it seemed like a quart of water drained out from the condensation hose. WTF! Found the problem. At a cost of $100 for the new parts I learned my lesson.

There had to be a blockage in your extension hose, did you find it blocked up, if so what caused the blockage?

Many have done this hose extension with no one reporting any issues, just wondering why you had an issue.

You can spend more than $100 on a restaurant dinner these days. Glad it didn't do any damage to a far more expensive item.

The blockage was in the brass spice. Probably accumulated dust washing thru. If I do it again I will sleeve a larger hose over the factory hose. But doubt I will do anything further
