Fender liner clips and removal

Hey guys like the title says I need some help on the fender liner plastic pins. I am use to the old Honda type Christmas trees. I have a set of BAJA foglights I need to install. Took off the front tire and unbolted the 10mm fasteners. Got the liner slid out of the clips without breaking any. Is there anyway to remove the fasteners (rivet style) without breaking them? If you broke them has anybody used the Christmas tree type instead of the pin rivet type? Any ideas on a simple way to remove them? Or is it chisel them out and replace? Ive done some searches and found similar other posts with sort of lots of discussion but no resolution

Thanks for any help. I don't want to turn this foglight install into an epic month long battle. :moping::frog:

If older than few years that plastic is brittle and will brake. Just replace them. E-bay. Just measure and search.

I bought a ton of various Christmas tree types off amazon. So as long as its tight basically it doesn't matter what type is used? I have found that with these plastic clips as soon as they see one winter removal is almost impossible. The 10mm bolts and clip are so far so good, but truck is still new.

I just dealt with this while installing my snorkel. Rather than try to save them I just went in with the mindset of breaking them and replacing them. Even still it was a bear to deal with them. Here are the replacement clips I used.
