GM took a shot at Tacoma, it would be easy to make this architecture into a new Jimmy and take a shot at 4Runner with the added benefit of taking customers away from Ford's talk of bringing the Bronco back. Next gen 4Runner better step it up!
The diesel thing is interesting but until this new engine proves to be reliable, there's really nothing good to say about it yet. It is intriguing but the DEF thing just kills it for me. It will be interesting to see what price range it gets released at.
The problem is we are enthusiasts who get stiffies from these offerings but the other 95% of buyers do not want to pay the premium for stuff they will never use. I don't see GM offering up another SUV especially with this trim. They already have a full stable. They would self defeat themselves.
The real issue I see with this truck for the truck buyer is it's going to surpass the cost of a full size GM truck. I'd rather pony up for full size and mod away. I feel like that would be more the norm with those in this type of market.
I dig the truck a lot but I know we are enthusiasts not typical consumers. There are not enough of us.
Can anyone explain to me how the ZR2 can have a 2" lift but still only have 9" of ground clearance?
It makes no sense to me.

I don't care enough to read about that truck, so excuse my ignorance while I make fun of gmc and ask who is going to be first in line for a brand new GMC vehicle??? Get a damn Tundra. Chevy "like a rock" my ass. Didn't they stop making the Colorado and then bring it back?
Aside from the new crossover Tacoma experiment, Toyota has been making rock solid trucks/SUVs for a long time.
This will probabaly appeal to all those millennials spending daddy's money to turn their Wranglers and 1500 in a daggum monster trucks so they can navigate those mean suburban streets.
Was just checking this vehicle out, a Crew/SB $46,120 for ZR2/Duramax, that's with absolutely no other options selected. That's a lot of dimp!

People's brand loyalty never ceases to amaze me. I would happily be all over a diesel crew cab ZR2 if dealers are willing to use the 20% off bonus tags on them. I'd be surprised if they wouldn't, since I've seen people get them to apply the bonus tags to brand new SS sedans.

When I first saw this vehicle, like others have said I was excited to see a major manufacturer focus on the enthusiast 4x4 market, but there are a few issues that stick out at me.
1. Although it affects some people and not others, there's the GM quality issue. Combine that with an IFS front locker, and things could get interesting.
People need to bring their biases up to date. Chevy vehicles, at least their trucks, are not the cheap, POS, soon-to-be rust piles that they were in years past. In fact, domestic trucks in general are fairly comparable to the famed, and arguably over-hyped, Toyota trucks and SUV's....
I sincerely hope the new competition they're getting from domestic companies lights a fire under their butts and they start to innovate and push the envelope...
I hope, as I'm sure most other Toyota enthusiasts do, that these new vehicles create more competition and better quality among all of the manufacturers.
