Gotcha, thanks for your honesty. After looking at the link you posted, I was shocked that they were almost double the price of the low beams, so I went back to compare to the ones I bought (H11), and noticed the pull down menu for bulb type, so I looked and sure enough, the 9006 was there for the same price. The biggest difference I could see was that the ones you linked don’t have the cooling fans apparently. I was thinking that you might have opted for that version because of the lack of fans, especially being down low where they would obviously be exposed to more road elements than the others. Since my truck is an ‘04, I looked under to make sure the housings would clear, and there is plenty of room, which led me to question your choice. Now that you cleared that up, I’m questioning the longevity of the fans in that location since there is nothing to protect them from water, dust, salt, etc.
By the way, I checked out that IG link for the titanium hardware. Very nice stuff. I’ve always changed my engine bay hardware to stainless on every car project I’ve done. In most cases, I end up polishing them too, unless I’m going for the brushed look. Titanium is probably a bit overkill unless I was building a race car where ever gram of weight mattered, but I can see where some would want it for the aesthetics as well. In the case of my 4Runner, some of the hardware was so corroded that I needed to use those special sockets for stripped bolt heads just to get them out! I didn’t bother polishing the replacement hardware since this isn’t a show type vehicle, but I definitely wanted rust free hardware! I also applied ant-seize to the threads, especially those going into aluminum.
