From Flipped FJ to 4Runner!

Hello all! I recently bought a 2005 SR5 V6 2wd 4runner from my neighbor. Bone stock right now, but as soon as I get out of this neck brace I'll be diving into some mods! My last vehicle was an 07 TRD FJ with tons of mods. Lift, tires, brush guards, full interior LEDs & kick lights, sound system, black & red trim, you name it. At the beginning of March I was wheeling on the beach down in Florida and rolled it over twice. Wouldn't ya know it, with my luck I wasn't wearing my seatbelt and got ejected. A fractured mandible, C7 vertebrae and chipped AC joint later, here I am! So now the FJ is off in Yota heaven somewhere, and now I have a 4runner! Hope to make this one as unique as my FJ was. Glad to be alive!

Welcome, sweet FJ, sorry about the rollover but good to hear you were alright regardless. Just out of curiosity, why did you go with a 2WD 4Runner coming from a lifted 4x4 FJ?

Haha it'll just keep me on the road more. Out of the mud and out of the shop hopefully too. I've blown too much unnecessary money on stupid repairs like torn cv boots, locked up pulleys, starters, etc. from romping in the mud too much :redbrick: hopefully I'll tone it down a bit now! Plus medical bills and such weren't cheap either. Got this gem for $8500
 
Polish up that 4runner add a few cosmetics and sell it for profit. You got a great deal on it. Then get a 4wd.
There is a right way, and a wrong way to go offroad. Mudding is the wrong way (along with no seatbelt ;) ) all the mudding stories end the same. Stuck and broke (parts & wallet).
A long time ago I learned the hard way too. It's a right of passage. Welcome to the other side.
 
I'm definitely gong to hold onto this one for a while. I've already started my mods, even though I haven't found my way out of this neck brace haha. I painted the rear bumper trim piece black yesterday and am color matching the mirrors tomorrow and doing Momo's floating hella mount with some lights I have lying around. I spent a couple hours waxing and detailing yesterday, and you would be hard pressed to find one in better shape, especially for the price I paid :boxer:

Haha once you get that mud in your blood you can't get it out! :madgrin:

I'm glad I got the mudding out of my system with my 4wheeler. To hell with trying to sink it in the deepest whole you could find. Never comes clean again and always costly.

Pops always told me if I wanted to go mudding I needed to save up and get a four wheeler. Hate to say it but the old man was right haha
 
Congrats on the new ride. And glad you are okay from your FJ accident.

I still think you will be back to a 4x4 in no time. Having a 4x4 vehicle is for safely as well. Through a snow storm, rain, etc. I do not think I would be able to own a 4runner in 2wd. I rather have a plush ride and have a highlander if not 4x4 was not important to me.

Congrats nonetheless.
 
If you go mudding wouldn't a light 2wd dune buggy / sand rail be better? Seems like it would be better to float over the top fast than sink into it with a have truck.

Looks fun though.

You always have to have 4x4! that way when you hit a rut and the back tires hang up, the front ones can pull you out. A 4x4 buggy would be sweet though
 
Sorry to see what happened to your FJ. You definitely replaced it with a great looking 4Runner. Welcome to the fam!

Glad you are ok. Sorry to see the FJ all jacked up. It was a good looking rig, but welcome to the 4Runner Family!
