Grill mounted light bar?

It would be cool if you could swing back by the dealer and see how they mounted the light flush/outside.

I like it 'not hidden' behind the grill b/c it kind of breaks up that big dull space.

Don't like the 'bling' of the Limited but do like the fact that its grill is not a broad expanse of boring.

Also, is there some trick for me to follow threads with big pictures and not reducing them down so small that the type is then too small to read?

Thanks,

I would but it's pretty far from me..... A couple of hours.

Sorry about the pic.... Posted from. My iPad and sometimes it posts big pictures.

Mounting

I did mine without removing the bumper :). Used 1" square stock (aluminum) 3" bolts and I use the stock mounting holes where the upper support holes are. Took me 1.5hrs to complete using the 32" bar and it went in there so slick.

How did you remove both the piece that holds the emblem and the grill cover? I like the way that looks and uses factory holes.

Top part of the bumper is held on buy snap clips and the bottom grill was a bit more tricky and requires to remove all the screws from the bottom support in behind. Once you remove the top part of the bumper you will see the 2 bolts in the top support that is where you will use the bolts to hold the bar up.

BowJanked did you use one long piece of square aluminum under the front support or two short pieces?

Okay so the 1"x1" square is enough to get it into the grill area? How long of a piece did you use? Did you secure it with just one bolt through the factory holes? Sorry for all the questions I just love the way it looks.

It depends on how and where you like it to be in the grill that decides on how long the tubing is. I think mine was 4"

Any pics of the bracket you made?

I just got a 32" bar and wondering how to mount it.

Also how are you guys wiring these up?

I have some on my home computer, I'll send later tonight when I get there.

My bar came with a wiring harness that I used when I installed, and then installed a AOB switch in the cabin for light control.

Looks like from your pictures we will be running the same bar...... Just wondering how tall the brackets you had made are? Looks like roughly 6"??

OPT7, 32" Spot/Flood Combo? That's what I have.

The bracket is 4.5" tall from the top of the aluminum crossmember. The OPT7-supplied lightbar supports add the needed 1.5" to get this to the proper height in the grille area (totals the 6" you see). The picture with the tape measure is from middle of left footplate to middle of right footplate, and is 33.5" which is where I drilled the holes to mount the OPT7-supplied rubber foot pieces.

Hope the pics help, and sorry for the delay.

Awesome thanks for that! Looks like a high quality mount. I'll have to see what I can come up with....

Man, that's really clean. I just ordered a 30" rigid Radiance light bar and need to have Demello make tabs for it. I want it to sit flush with the trimmed grill. I dont pick up my rig until Friday, where is everyone getting their interior switches?
