I need to find/START a Toyota Club around here so we can do cool stuff like that.

I don't get to go often enough. But, I do try to get out on the trail 4-5 times a year.

Alright so I've had my snorkel for about a week and finally installed it today. It was a bit nerve racking cutting that big hole but it wasn't bad. I do have a little gap in the front, and it probably could have been moved forward a bit (antenna not centered) but all in all I am very pleased how it looks and how it turned out.

Was going to hold off on ordering and installing this until I painted my 4runner, which should be any time now... but screw it. Wanted to get it before they disappeared from Amazon or went up in price or whatever, and I'll just remove it for paint time even if its a PITA.

So anyway, ordered, thanks to those who have inadvertently egged me on by posting sweet pics, can't wait to get it.

I was thinking the same, ordered it and then got it painted, but I did install after the paint. I would recommend that.

Are u guys painting the snorkel or just leaving it the base plastic color? Also, any news on the arb snorkel?

Leaving it. Once I get around to finishing the truck off in a silver metallic monstaliner I will do my roof rack and the snorkel the same.

Anyone have the exact spot the template should be. I see these pictures but all of them have tape on them. My template seems off if I match it to the door.

Someone needs to scan their template and make a PDF out of it for future use...


Btw... Does anyone want to sell their step drill bits if they aren't going to use them anymore after this project?

Top photo is if I match the template to the rear of the fender. Bottom is if I match the top of the fender to the hood line..

It's really hard to explain. I would go with the hood line though. That's what I did and it came out level.

So with the templete at the edge of the hood this is how it looks. Good to drill?

That looks about like mine did. I don't think I took any pics from the template though. I ended up having to adjust my holes a lot for the ditch light brackets.

Got mine today, I guess that was 9 days from China or wherever, ordered the same one everyone else has been getting from Amazon. Looking forward to install (I guess)... er rather, having it on.

Anyone getting a whistling sound? Mine comes alive at ~50 mph.

Mine doesn't. I have a whistle....but it's the roof rack lol.

Any of you supercharged with this kit? I am and have the deck-plate mod so I've never pulled all my air from the snorkel.....until last night. I put the lid on to get ready for a wheeling trip that could include water. That is where I found a problem. Under wide open throttle the demand for air for the engine is such that it collapses the rubber boot on the air-box. Almost killed my engine. Curious if anyone else had this issue?? I'm contemplating replacing the rubber elbow with PVC if I can figure out how to fir it in the narrow fender. Anyone?

I would just put a ring to support the rubber inside it. A hose clamp might do the trick if you expanded it in the corner.

Great idea - sounds like a trip to Home Depot to misuse hardware! I always enjoy explaining to the associates what I'm trying to do and watching them implode.
