i just purchased (August 16th) a 2010 SR5 VIN 23372 and was told at my dealer they are only doing 35,000 4Runner combined models for the 2010 year model.

my dealer in Colorado had at least 20+ on the lot.

that should help value/resale etc. unless a crazy recall happens

I also have a tough time to find SR5 4x4 (S. California). there is no a lot of choices, so i have to pay almost a full price for mine. I got mine in February 2010 and the VIN Start with JTE**********9000. Built in Japan in 12-09. Consumer Report rated it below average for handling, turn to turn and accessible, but rate above average for crashed tests. IMO this Vehicle is an OK but nothing is out standing.

Are you really willing to pay almost full price for something your consider "OK but nothing is outstanding"? If you're not liking the handling of the SR5, have you tried the Limited?

so 35k might be a good number for 2010's from both factories.

Are you really willing to pay almost full price for something your consider "OK but nothing is outstanding"? If you're not liking the handling of the SR5, have you tried the Limited?

I didn't have fully knowledge about it until i owned it, I bought it because its reputation of good design and reliability and yes, I had test drive the Limited, but I can not evaluate the entire car performance base on a 10 minutes test drive.

I find this odd, they are not starting over the VIN with the 2011 model year? If there are no differences how would someone know which year they are buying? Is there a 'cut-off' build date that makes one a 10' vs 11'? Something is not right with that 14k VIN being an 11' though! I hope that was a typo or else the dealer is really a stealer!

According to Toyota's August Sales report, they have sold 29,600 4Runners YTD. Now, I don't know how many of those were 2010MY vs 2009MY, but if they were all 2010s and the 35,000 limit was true, then there are only 5400 2010 4Runners left to be purchased.

In my opinion they aren't buiilding enough. When they have low stock and higher demand then the dealers are able to get higher prices for the vehicles.
when they have 1 or 2 in stock rather then 10-20 then they get closer to sticker price.
