How To: AEM F/IC-6 Install, Tuning, and Help Thread

So while tuning, how do you know when to adjust timing, and to what??

Keep timing map stock at first. Tune afr till is perfect. If you get detonation you want to drop timing in 1* increments till detonation stops around that rpm point.

Where there is no detonation you can add timing in 1* increments til you see any detonation. Then back it off. You will most likely detonate pretty quickly adding timing. If you had some tq estimations in log you could tune MBT.

You can tell there is detonation how? I don't think Knock sensors would be reliable to gauge this?

I am starting to tune closed loop and tried both of the wideband and narrowband O2 skews that the FIC can do and didn't get either to change the AFR's on my truck.

FYI 2001 Tacoma 318cc injectors with the AFR factory O2. It is the same as the 2000-2002 T4R. I didn't put in a resistor as I have the afr and "shouldn't" need it.

Anyone know if the 2000+ with the AFR needs the resistor for the O2 skewing to work?

So an 01 manual trans Tacoma should need one? I have the AFR front sensor and no partial electronic throttle body. If that makes a difference.
Idk about the Tacoma all i know is every manual 4runner had a o2 sensor not an afr sensor. You are gonna have to confirm that in the TIS or somewhere else

Holy....nice, do you think that's possible with a SAFC?

What does your timing map look like?
I don't have any experience with safc... I can take a snapshot of my timing map

Ive tuned SAFC for years on other cars. If you can get your Fuel trims in check. WOT in check, the mids will just work themselves out. But remember a piggy back will never be perfect.

So I added the 10K resistor and popped a CEL (P0125) the first drive after it warmed up. I may try the 1K that AEM suggests. Truck ran fine but was open loop the entire time.
Was this on the crank sensor circuit or on the O2 sensor? Mine warms up in open loop too if I remember correctly I really don't pay much attention to it but I'm pretty sure that's what it does I think that's just how the ECU works.
