For anyone looking to purchase and install the TRD Intake, the cheapest place to purchase each part individually is through Conicelli Toyota.

If you wanted to add the TRD Panel Filter the part number is PTR43-00083 and an additional $66.69 after the 10% discount.

There will be miscellaneous items you will need to complete the kit but they can be purchased at any AutoZone.

Installed mine today, took about an hour. Hardest part was stripping the maf wires from the loom and getting that all taped and routed. Also, I used a little rubber thing I found at Ace in the 'little rubber thing bin', supposedly it's for Chevy license plate mounting? Fit perfectly, no permatex silicone needed.

There is a hole shown near one of the grommets. I just picked up this kit and can see what the original poster was talking about.

I don't see this addressed anywhere else on this thread.
What did everyone do to deal with this?
Does it some how get covered up once installed? Or did you have to fill it up with something (which is risky as engine can suck it in if it becomes dislodged.)

since it was me who pointed that out, i'll respond here also just to say that i got a few large rubber/neoprene washers to seal that gap but never bothered to install them. maybe this will be the kick in the arse i need to do it when i clean my air filter this spring.

FWIW, there doesn't seem to be any adverse effect from any (nominal) warm air infiltration via that gap, but i do suspect it's the source of the TRD CAI whistle that's been documented repeatedly.

Got mine in. Ordered all the seperate pieces from CamelBack Toyota. Install was a breeze but my truck did not die on first startup it fired up like normal :thumb:.

Just curious, did you by any chance not disconnect the battery before doing the install?

I've noticed my truck dies on the first start any time after I reconnect the battery...

No I didn't. I was thinking about it and forgot. I'm sure the a/f trims will level themselves out.

Its the panel in the top lid of the airbox. Supposed to be to filter the air from the engine after the motor is already turned off (oil/fuel vapors). You can take it out, maybe get a little better flow. Sounds may change slightly, but it won't be nearly as loud as the TRD airbox (for good or bad) as the TRD airbox is sized differently and is missing the silencer on the intake pipe.

Ah, I see, ok thanks. And a K&N filter really is THAT much better than the stock filter? The 33-2438 filter? I don't see why the filter is much better...

I just did mine yesterday (forgot to unplug battery), started right up fine.

Used the printed Toyota instructions, no real issues, only a few spots that required some interpretation due to their small photos. Took about an hour or so.

Big difference in noise above 3500 rpm or so. I think it feels peppier too, but I don't know how much of that is real vs perceived with the extra sound. Sounds very mean
