Inv4drZm's Build Thread

Busted tail light. Its just a water drain mod right?

It feels good to have my SCS center caps back on! Order a new set and it seems they changed their design to use a metal ring on the backside to hold them in place.

This is one of the most inspiring threads. Well done sir! Mine is a work in progress. First 4runner I've ever owned. Stock SR5, v6, 2wd. White. You're thread has given me a lot of direction. Thank you.

Thanks. It's nice to be able to go back and look at all the pictures to remind myself what all I've done with/to my truck!

It's been awhile since I checked in on this thread. Damn that bumper looks good. A lot of progress over the last couple of month. Nice work man!

Yeah just a new set of tires makes the truck look way better! I guess anything looked better than those beat-up Duratracs.

Went spray-paint crazy today preparing for winter. I had some surface rust from last winter that I wanted to cover up. Painted most of the rear all the up the frame rails to the front control arms with Rustoleum satin black.

Stealth mode: (painted front skid black)

New rear end:

duuude I thought I was the only one on here from salina. your truck is bad ass, your brother bought the FJ from Long Mcarthur right?

You must have seen my truck around town then? Hard to miss it. Actually my Dad bought the FJ in 2008 from a dealer in KC and my brother bought it from him a couple years ago.

Did you model the front bumper after anyone in particular or just your own version ? Must say if so one of the better (IMPO) ones out there !!

Little bit of everything. The center section has the 3 faces like the Pelfreybilt bumper but it has cutouts inspired by Relentless's. The lightbar cutout has the little supports across the face of the cutout that the C4 Fab bumpers have.

But the side wings with the plate/tube combo are pretty unique. Glad you like it though!

You must drive that silver 4th gen? Did you own a silver 3rd gen too, with the lights on the bumper?

I am at our manufacturing shop 40% of the time currently working on a project, but my desk is actually across town in our engineering buildings, but yeah pretty ironic actually.

I wonder where this will get attached?

My gosh your 4Runner is stunning! How in the world did you scrounge up enough money to mod so much during college?:wow: If I weren't so busy with athletics then I would gladly get a job to fund my little addiction I've recently found. I would for sure love to add a plate/tube bumper in the front and rear but I don't have the materials or skills or tools necessary!:ybrick:

Also, I just spent two hours scrolling through your build and could just imagine being there fabbing the bumpers or wheeling with all the pics you supplied the forum

I guess living at home while going to school has it's perks. Also, having a decent job throughout school let me pay off a good amount of school before graduating so that I don't have a ton of debt. Using used components and building some parts myself, and doing all the labor myself, has kept costs down.

DANG I wish I could be in the situation you had setup. For right now I'm only really doing small to moderate mods that I can afford or make time for. I wanna eventually try and build a piece of my own but that'll be awhile.

Nice rig:clap2:
