I shouldn't have pushed that switch that said "prizes"!!!

Sorry guys, I'm not gonna have much to bring this weekend.

I am jealous of those rear links. Yup they are on my list.

Now all the rear needs is some adjustable sway bar links.

Oh and throw the stock wheels and tires back on and send me those sexy new ones.

:lookout:

Ill get more info up tomorrow, but I was jammed for time tonight. Didn't get home from the shop until about 9 (freakin DC traffic), and them had to immediately unload the old wheels and parts, re-pack up and then roadtrip it back up to school.

It rides like a dream though. Took a little adjustment getting used to the different feel - but now it's just awesome.

PICTURES and first impressions...

Grabbing dinner at Red Robin right next to Duc's shop after picking it up (notice I am parked allllllll the way at the end).

Made it back to school safely and just got the lug nuts re-tourqued this afternoon. A local shop in Lancaster (K&W Tire - nicest tire shop i have ever been in) did it for free while I watched. Here's some other iPhone shots. I don't have my nice camera with me at school so I will have to wait a bit for the nice pictures.

Hope these hold you guys over...

Rear (hard to take a picture of everything here, but at least you can see the rear shocks and lower trailing arm. Once I get the good camera I'll take a picture from behind and then you can see the new springs, upper trailing arms, and tracking bar):

Front (self-explanatory):

Better pictures will come later!

As for the ride, it's amazing....

ON ROAD:
It took some getting used to because I had never driven a lifted truck. You don't "smack" into harsh bumps anymore like you did with the old suspension and 20" wheels. You just glide smoothly over top of them. There is a bit of lean when cornering that the XREAS didn't have, but I attribute this more to the larger tires than the new suspension. Also, the tire noise from the Duratracs is barley noticeable. I turn my radio up to normal listening volume and cruise in perfect comfort. Last night driving home on I-95 I was cruising at 75+ MPH and it felt just like stock. On a straight stretch I even took my hands off the wheel just to see what would happen and got zero wandering and zero vibration. VERY pleased with that. The steering feels a tad heavy, but almost more sensitive and responsive at the same time. More driving will help me nail down exactly what's going on there. You definitely feel "higher" than before when driving, not necessarily top heavy, just a little less planted than before, but I adjusted quickly and now feel just as comfortable driving as before (although I see full skids in my future to lower the center of gravity again...).

The truck is nowhere near as underpowered as I though it was going to be. It has slightly less acceleration power which is understandable, but nothing that's going to cause an issue everyday. As far as MPG's go, I reset my car computer on the way down to the shop and got 19.6. After the lift, I reset the computer for the drive back, and got 17.4. I feel that this is slightly skewed though as on the drive down I left at 5:30 AM and hit no traffic, but on the drive back I was sitting in traffic for a considerable amount of time around the DC area.

I will hopefully get to test this off road a bit this weekend! Looking forward to it!

This is definitely my favorite mod to date, and again a big thanks to Duc and the guys at High Tech!

In other news, you are now an official Storm Trooper.

Not yet but he will be soon.

Truck looks really great. After the covert you will have will have the inside track for T4ROTM. I will be here to guide you through the process ;):

So when is the Shrockworks front bumper being ordered? I must say the SR5/Limited bumper and skirts makes the truck look like a crossover and lower to the ground.

Truck does look good though.

Dude, that looks so sick!

:bigok:

Thanks! We are now the Stage 6 buddies

Haha Philly knows what's happening, the convert should come by December I am hoping, just need to get those front and rear bumpers ordered and painted. As for T4ROTM...I don't know if I would got THAT far yet...but we'll see!

I'm not going to go the front bumper route for the time being, I like the Shrockworks but I am not THRILLED by it...that may change in the future though.

Regarding the side skirts I agree and arrived at the same conclusion months ago. That's why 95% of the TE conversions parts are sitting in my garage as we speak. Once those go on the truck will be a true storm trooper and have a much better look.

Friggin awesome!!:bigok:

Lean? Really?? I didn't think so but then again I didn't put many miles on before going to Icon

"Lean" seems harsh after driving it more today, it's just a good solid mix of being slightly stiffer but still comfortable.

Just a few pictures from the weekend.

I followed the fearless Joneseyyy and did a few of the coves trials. Just wanted to break things in a bit. Everything went very well and the truck took everything I threw at it without a problem at all. The best part was feeling how solid the truck felt on dirt, rocks, and pavement. It doesn't matter what you drive this thing on, it takes it like a champ!

Truck LOOKS GREAT and jealous of your tent!

So I just realized I completely forgot to add any pictures of the ARB twin install.

So heres just a bit of info about how that went (some of this is double posted in other threads, but I just like keeping everything central).

The bracket lets the compressor sit very firmly in the rear passenger opening of the engine compartment. It is connected at 3 points and is definitely not going to move. The addition of the manifold tank extends the bracket a bit, but still keeps everything localized, and easy to work on.

You can see the ARB locker solenoid installed and wired, but I haven't run the air line for that yet.
I also still have the outlet for a second solenoid if I ever decide to add a front locker as well.

Here are a bunch of shots:

REAR CONTROL PANEL:

PANEL:
The panel itself underwent some design changes once I realized what was actually physically possible given the space constraints of the rear wheel well.
The gauge is very deep so this needed to be placed as far backward as possible to allow for the most room. All in all it is still a very tight fit.

Here is a picture of my final design.

Here is the .fpd file that contains that design. (feel free to do whatever you want with it!)
Front Panel Design File

Gauge:
I got mine from GlowShift because I had dealt with them in the past and had no issues. Also their color shift gauges give you good options to match the interior lighting. This (pictured below) is the exact one that I got. One of the color is very close to the interior orange. But I like having the dial backlit white to give some contrast to the red gauge needle. It looks good.

Air Lines:
This was hit or miss. I ended up getting two of these (pictured below).
viair.jpg

They have the tubing and quick connect that I used. But there is a lot to account for here. The air pressure gauge is 1/8" Male NPT. So you either have to convert that to 1/4" NPT or get a 1/8" NPT push connector. You also have to get a splitter from the compressor to go to your gauge and quick connect. You can do this with a t-fitting and a lot of adapters. But I stumbled upon this (pictured below).
tfitting.jpg

and it made my life SO much easier. It splits the high pressure plastic tubing that comes in that Viair kit or with an ARB locker, (this is 1/4" tubing by the way). to two outputs.

Also that company (Parker) is the best. They sell all the air connections you will ever need on Amazon and it's all Prime, which means 2.99 next day shipping. And I couldn't find these little compression fit adapters and other little known fittings at any local store. Any you will be needing a LOT of little obscure fittings when doing a full OBA setup like this.

Well, I'm experienced enough with my tools to trust that I will do a good job. I never add anything if I know it won't look stock or better. I'm a big aesthetics guy so I put a lot of time into finding a way to make things look how I want.

Also I put in a lot of time and research before every actual cut or hole I put in my truck (just like anyone should). It's better to do it once and take a while to do it right then to do it quickly but make mistakes.

My general philosophy behind this build is to improve the function while making it look as good as it can get. And to do everything right the first time.

More pictures! I took these a few weeks ago after the lift went on, but am just now getting around to putting them up here.

Can't wait to get the TE conversion done, I think that and some tint will really complete the look. Should be done by the end of November!

Same as before with the pictures. They all link to higher-res versions.

nice, wish I had a farm to take photos of my 4runner:D How did you get that different font for some of the photos in the right hand corner? was it done by the camera or some sort of app?
