Yea, I've got the V8. Do you have the 886's? If so, what shocks do you have and do you have a front bumper? Would love to see some pics so I have an idea of what to expect.



Honestly, I have been slightly disappointed with the 5100 setup so far. The ride is definitely not as good as I was expecting when I purchased them, but they aren't too expensive so I can't complain much. I'm hoping that the ride and look will dramatically improve when I switch from OEM coils to aftermarket.

I'm running the 886 and 5100's also. Ride is kinda meh but I don't mind it. I'm currently cali leaning because I've yet to put in new rear springs and I'm running a front Demello Flat Top no winch yet.



The lean will be fixed when I put in the 3" Metaltech shocks in the rear next month

Yea that looks really good, I don't mind the rear being a tad lower than the front. Probably because mine is lower in the front right now but I want to try to get it as even as possible. Funny that you call it the Cali lean, down here it's called the "Carolina Squat".... lol Still can't believe that's actually a thing...

What springs are you running in the rear right now? And Im assuming you have the front Bilstein's set at their lowest setting with the OME's?

Carolina Squat huh? Really rolls of the tongue. Kinda like it. The rear suspension is junk. It's off a cheapy rough country suspension setup I threw on it in high school. I can't wait to get rid of it. And yes the Bilsteins are at the lowest setting. If you're going to use an OME spring with bilsteins you can't preload them at all because the OME spring is much taller

Been a while since I've been on here so I figured I would give an update.

I recently got an ARB 2500 Awning and have a CBI front bumper on order, so it will be a completely different looking truck soon.

Also will be purchasing some new springs to handle the added weight from the bumper so let me know if you have any recommendations.

the OME 885s will probably be a good fit with the 5100s you already have. They are stiffer than the 884s to account for a heavier bumper

Honestly, I haven't mounted it yet. It is actually sitting at my parents' beach place waiting to be put on. Since I purchased it at the end of last summer, I decided to wait until this summer to install it and leave it on. Figured it wouldn't be getting much use during the winter anyway.

Pretty much plug and play. Marker lights require splicing a new harness onto the old one. If wiring like I did, would require LEDs prob. as well to keep the wattage lower. '06 headlights have both a marker light and a turn signal in the housing, I wired both as marker lights

Yes, HIDs. 5k lows, 3k fogs
I tried LED's originally but wasn't satisfied. The LED bulbs I selected only put the light out on two sides which resulted in an inadequate beam pattern.

If you had the time, I would retrofit a spare set of '03-05 headlights with projectors. The output is spectacular and far superior over the original ones but other projectors (lexus, acura) are higher quality and have a sharper/better beam pattern. It would require a bit more work.

The light mods seem cool, but do you guys ever find how annoying it is when someone drives behind you with those lights beaming in your side mirror? Its not just a safety issue, it can blind people.

I understand and entirely agree with you. Well bright, I've never been flashed and when I pull behind somebody the cutoff is below their mirrors as it should be. Only time it is remotely annoying to another driver is when I pull up close behind a slammed car at a stop light. I generally try and leave extra space when I see I'm entering their mirror

This particular picture was taken well below the projector cutoff with a phone camera. Makes it look much worse than it actually is.

Finally had some time to post an update.

So, I recently received and installed a CBI Front Bumper, and am really happy with how it turned out. The only thing I will say is that the bumper protrudes out a little more than I was expecting.

To handle the additional weight from the bumper I went with OME 886s, and I am really glad I did. I was debating between those or the 885s and I think I would have been disappointed with the 885s. I installed the springs the day before the bumper and could not notice much difference between the height before the bumper and afterwards.

After installing the bumper and new springs I realized my upper control arms ball joints were completely shot, so I decided to just go ahead and replace the entire UCA. I figured with the 886's and front bumper I am in need of something a little beefier anyway.

I deliberated for a while on which set to go with; mostly between Total Chaos, Dirt King and SPC. I couldn't decide if I should save some money and go with the ball joint SPC set or go ahead and spring for a uniball set. After reading about the issues SPC had with earlier generations, the issues with squeaking, and how some people were still having to replace the BJ's every now & again, I decided I would bite the bullet and get a uniball set.

So I messaged Mike at Offroad Warehouse on here (great customer service, btw), and he was able to offer me a set of Total Chaos Uppers for $620 shipped!!! I couldn't refuse that deal!!

I also talked to a guy in one of our local T4R groups that owns an Overland store, because he usually price matches, and I try to keep my money local! But he wouldn't price match this time because - and I quote - "If that price is shipped, they are loosing about $40 a set." I definitely know who to go to next time I need the best deal on parts!

The Total Chaos UCA's came in, and let me tell you, these things are beefy! I spent a lot of time debating between these or SPC to save some money but I'm definitely glad that I went with TC. Now I've got to get the axles ordered from CVJ and hopefully I will be done fixing things so I can focus on protection.
