Just spoiled my son!

My son is graduating high school and headed to Oklahoma State University next fall. He's been a model son since he was born and I'm so proud of him.

He got over $50K in scholarships for grades, so I decided to reward him. I started looking for 4Runners here and here, and happened across this one - a 2016 with about 60K miles. It's called a T Force? Anyway the guy drove it mostly on the highway and had every record. He also added a lot of goodies like the clear bra protection, leather interior with heated seats, and other cool stuff.

I think it looks great! He doesn't get it for 2 more weeks. Until then, I have it in storage and get to play with it a little.

He loves to fly fish and we live within about 4 hours of some good NM fly fishing, so I'm sure we will be getting up there soon!

He's got a 2005 tacoma right now with 180K on it and we've never had a problem with it, so I wanted to stick with Toyota. The T Force is some after market add-ons, I sure hope he likes it.

Truth is, the is WAY more vehicle than he needs, but I wanted to get him something he could have for 10 years and not have to worry about. Plus this will be great for hauling stuff to and from college, etc. He's going to Oklahoma State, and I think there are hiking opportunities pretty close to there - he can use this to go camping, etc.

I live in the area & am an OSU guy; from experience, it is a great place to live & own a 4runner. If you ever come visit him, there are trout fishing opportunities closer to Stillwater also. Around Beaver Lake in NW Arkansas, and also the Blue River NW of Tahlequah, OK (Would be between Stillwater & TX) are a quick drive from here. Congrats on both of your wise choices! I actually didn't even know what "Tforce" was, but apparently it is an after-market deal that Gulf States Toyota did to the SR5. I'm sure it's been discussed here somewhere.

It might not suit every taste, but a college kid I think will like it. As far as I can tell, the Tforce is the dealership's way to slicken up a SR5 and sell it for a lot more $$. Suits me. This one has a "basket" on the luggage rack, pretty cool fender flares, step bars, all weather mats front, back, and rear, Grappler ATs with black rims, front skid plate.

The previous owner had a lot of extras:

- the clear bra stuff on the hood, mirrors, door edges, door handles, etc.
- new katzkin (??) leather seats in front and back
- remote start installed at dealer
- some sort of upgraded shock according to the owner - have no idea what

It had a few nicks and blemishes and I had a body shop remove them all. Then I had the thing clay bar'd, polished, and waxed, then I installed heated seats and they look factory! Ran by today and did a bit more detailing on it. I'll give it to him mid week next week.

I spent more than I should have but hey, it's my son and he's a good boy. If you're gonna be a bear, might as well be a grizzly.

What a great platform to start for a new enthusiast. all he needs to do is suspension and he'll be set to throw just about anything at it!!

A newer safe car is always a good way to start. My first car was 2 68 Camaros from a junk yard for 600 bucks and I built 1 out the 2 heaps

Good idea! One thing that terrifies me is the possibility that he might not like the vehicle but just says he does so as not to hurt our feelings.

I've asked one of his good buddies to keep me in the loop on this. Yes, it's a great looking car, and yes, I'd drive it, but perhaps my son doesn't care for it?

He's been looking at 4Runners for a while and he keeps mentioning that he wants a 2011 or 12 to "save money", so he certainly isn't expecting a 2016.

This thing is as close to brand new as you can possibly get it.

I'm pretty sure he's going to love it, its done up tastefully and just looks great. Not sure if he's into the whole car scene and such but thats my background and I must say I wish I bought one of these a lot sooner. Has everything I want and more. Now I can save for a project car and have something to tow it down the road.
