Lift and Tire Central (pics)... Post 'em Up!

rip-cord you are right. 265mm is the width. 65 the height of the sidewall expressed as a percentage of the width (in essence 265 x 0.65 = sidewall height). The problem with the BFG tires is that they have a very squared off profile, so increasing the height, even with the same width causes rubbing on the front mud flaps and front fender liner when the wheels are turned. 265/70r17 is the safe bet IMHO. The 255/75r17 doesn't rub as easily simply because the tires are narrower. Some people prefer these because they are a true 32" tire and slightly taller than the 265/70 option.

That 3D vs. 2D gets me every time. That didn't even occur to me. Thanks for pointing that out.

Bought my T4R roughly a month ago. Finally got the Daystar kit in. Alignment shop says I need lower control arm bushings. Hate to re-tear it apart. Took 4 hours solo.

Tires go on after the alignment is sorted out. Should be this weekend. Trying to decide on 265 or 285.. I just hate to loose the v8 power. Its my first v8 lol

Any tips or good links for control arm bushing replacement?

I have 35's with the V8. Believe me, you won't notice power loss. lol :bluejump:

With just the Daystar kit you will have a hard time fitting 285's. But no, you will not notice power loss with the V8

Sweet. Power loss is the only thing that I am worried about. Believe me, I can make the 285's fit. The grinder already has the cutting wheel attatched.

What is the sweet spot on wheel backspacing? I am buying 16x8's as soon as I get a clear answer. I know a lot of people run 1.25 wheel spacers on stock 7" wheels. So 8'' wide wheels with 4'' backspacing would be the equivelent to 1.5'' wheel spcers corect?

Or is my stock wheel 7.5'', making the 4'' backspacing equivelent to 1.25'' wheels spacers?

Edit: Also, Momo, I appreciate your attitude in the forum. I was a little worried swapping to a new forum, but you and a few other members convinced me into giving T4R.org a try

pics of the wheel spacers for sure

Update for y'all.....
I had some time to play in the garage yesterday and I found the likely problem.... Just as suspected Lug Centric spacers were installed by the dealership. So I will be ordering some SpiderTraxx 1.5in Hub centric spacers and tossing these to the wayside. I took me about 2 hours of bolting the wheel back on and test driving to get it tolerable enough to daily drive. Once I get the new spacers I will get a 4 wheel alignment and hopefully be done with it for while. Maybe I will get some UCA's to help with the dodgy steering as well. Thanks for the advice everyone! :bigok:

Yeah I wish it was 4x4 but parents got it as my first car so I mean you can't exactly complain. I'm buying a locker for the rear here soon and then hopefully before I go off to college im gonna get a Totalled 4Runner and do a 4x4 swap. But I get through everything that 4x4 people do so in not complaining lol

Looking good man! Very clean. You do not need to re-align the vehicle after spidertrax as you are not messing with the suspension at all.
