You are correct. I imagine the confusion is because Tacomas and Tundras are made in Texas - about 15 miles from my house.

Actually that is very helpful! Our other friends wife just picked up a 09' Rav4 Sport (w/o the spare on the back as they have the special run flat tires) and we were starting to consider the same model, but new. My wife loves the AWD/4WD on the Escape, she does not know a lot about how the 4wd systems work so it 'idiot proof' (not that I am calling her an idiot ) The Escape is really the only small SUV that has decent room in the cargo area. Most we looked at all have the sleek sloped tailgates which kill the vertical cargo capacity. Some 'kid' whipped lanes the other day on the highway, put her to the side in the snow and dirt, little Escape (07') stayed straight as an arrow. Not the prettiest SUV but has been very safe!

We looked at the Escape as well before we saw the 5th Gen. Great for road driving but the cargo area was just too small to suit us.

And they aren't a 4Runner.

It is a perfect 'winter' car for her, no off-roading, does great in the bad weather, has the cargo area she needs. Miata for the summer! I agree, no 4R, but still not bad

I loved my salesman. He had worked at the dealership for almost 20 years.
The whole process went very quickly. I knew what I wanted, contacted their internet sales department, got great pricing via USAA, paid cash and was in and out of the dealership in about an hour.
The best part was this quote from my salesman...
"I hate this internet pricing s-hit. Absolutely hate it. It takes all my money"
We had a good laugh. I appreciated his honesty.

My answer was "that's funny because it says made in Japan right here on the VIN tag"

My last, not so hilarious !@#$ my dealer said was
"The bolt isn't missing from your skid plate, it's broken off and the mechanic said it was like that when you came in...probably came from the factory like that" (it didn't)
also "it's not really low but we topped it off for you anyway... no charge!" (it was below the 1/2 way mark on the dipstick after servicing.)
