Looks like you've made some pretty good progress already. I'll be curious to see how the final product turns out (especially with some output shots!) I have a pair of 99-02 clear headlights sitting in a box at home as well as TRS's Morimoto mini h1 stage III (with 6.0 projectors, Gatling gun shroud, and 4300k bulbs) just waiting for some spare time to tackle the project, but I can't wait to get it done and see the improvements! The stock lighting sucks, especially on the 96-98 with the frosted glass headlight covers. Anyways, keep up the good work, and don't forget to post output pics!

I have had 0 problems with my 55w fxr's, and I know how hard it is to do this kind of stuff on a students budget lol. Im a junior and the money is all gone now you just got to be creative!!! I retro'd a set of tacoma headlights that i got cheap sold them for double what it cost me and then turned around and retro'd my Runner

Yea don't worry about the wiring harness, it will be fine this is probably going to happen to your mini h1's though with 55W and TRS WILL NOT WARRANT THEM...

yeah the D2S Mini, on ebay it said it was for a H4 headlight. my LED strips might be here tomorrow so my headlights might be done tomorrow, lets hope so

Got the headlights together, and they look good, i ran into a problem though how do you wired the H/L shield into the car? and whenever i turn the high beams on the lights turn off. i'm sure someone know how to fix this. but here is a picture of them mounted. (inspired by GottaBeTRD and MTD) I'll take light output of least the lows once it gets dark out

the wiring in our trucks is for a halogen bulb. So when you switch your brights on, the low beam circuit loses power, and is switched to the high beam circuit. Xenon's need low beam power and high beam power to activate the diffuser. TRS makes a plug and play device to correct it, they're $35/ea.

You couldn't be more wrong... I don't understand why anyone would do a projector retrofit but skimp out on the extra $25 (or less..) to have a stand-alone wiring harness with it's own relays and thicker guage wiring. It's like supercharging your vehicle but then cheaping out on fuel and running 87 octane. :crazy:

disregard my PM response. Those look great man! And to all those bashing crappy ballasts... never mind I've probably already jinxed myself lol. I honestly still run my Apexicone ballasts i got from DDM a couple years ago. I'll for sure upgrade when i do my second set but for now, they get the job done.

Correct me if I'm wrong but i think the stand alone harness is what a PnP hi/lo kit comes with right? it has the little box attached to it? anyway they look great man. did you end up using those little brackets?

I would get the trs harness it is standalone. And yes the non projector bixenon kits sometimes can be used with projectors, but TRS's harness has the right gauge wire.

if you are talking about the brackets for the led strip then yes i did end up using them. worked out great, thank you for the compliment. your headlight conversion gave me the motivation to do mine. i'm gonna to go to TRS and get that harness tomorrow. since i live about 25 minutes away

The TRS harness is what I was referring to. Although you can source them elsewhere or bud one yourself. Just get a quality relay if you go the later route.
