Thank you to ALL.... I got my horns finally installed. I got EL Grande from Amazon as well and made my wires in to "Y" type with "quick connect" to connect both horns to original connector. I also removed hood latch plastic cover and installed one horn and installed another horn at previous location as stated in tread. Very easy and it took me about totol 30mins to prepare wiring, take the cover out and to reconnect and to final check. I have TE and only have one horn but both horns are getting very good attention from the traffic. Thank you all. Love the sound of my horns now!!!

If you want a louder horn you should do what I did...... add a TRAIN horn! haha; it is a lot of fun to play with people and especially when someone is tailgating you, in my application at least. Here are the pics:
BTW it is mounted where the spare was; I cannot fit a full size spare anyway, and I have free towing with my insurance so... The tank mounted and the compressor pics also.
Wow, holy moly, Those looks like a series of Wind Turbo, I bet your truck will go a little faster every time you press on those Horns. :jump:
Thanks to all for the tips. These horns sound great, similar to a full size domestic truck etc. One horn plugged in at a time sounds high pitched and not much better than stock but 2 together is perfect. I flipped the mounting bar/tab around on one horn and drilled out the hole bigger to allow for mounting on the factory horn mounting bolt. Use a drill press with a clamp to keep the bar from spinning and injuring yourself. Excuse the poor picture quality. The one on the right does not rest on the condenser bracket, just an odd angle.
WOLO Air Horn
I bought the Wolo Air Horn, BadBoy 419, and wired it with the single wire and no relay in my SR5. It blew a couple times and then blew a fuse.
Wolo says that Toyota uses a 10 amp fuse and I should replace it with a 20 amp fuse as the horn will use up to 16 amps for a couple of microseconds. The Toyota factory wire is awful thin (18 or 20 gauge maybe?).
Should I try it with the 20 amp fuse, or should I rewire and use the relay that came with the horn from Wolo to be safer? Any ideas?

Done, once I got some wire and some male and female disconnects, it took minutes, the y-harness worked great. Thanks guys!

After reading this post in early Dec '10, I decided to do this mod on my '11 Limited. I had only honked the horn a few times, and it sounded like it could use an improvement. After seeing another recent post about how the '11 Limited horns sounded "right", I decided to go back and re-look my upgrade. Today I swapped back and forth between the OEM horns and the El Grande horns multiple times.
I'll be the first to admit that I don't have an especially sensitive ear for sound.....but I don't hear much of a difference between these two horns! I would venture to guess that Toyota made the change in the '11 and that the OEM horn I have isn't the same as the ones in the '10.
I've posted pics of my OEM horns in my member album (link to the left of this post), so if anyone can compare part numbers etc and see if this guess is correct, that may help other forum members decide if they'll really benefit from this mod.

That is a different oem 5th Gen horn alright!That 86510-48130 part number in your pics of yours crosses over to a high pitched Lexus RX350 horn.Your other one is probably the low pitched one to match.
So they either were out of the old meep-meep horns and used these to build temporarily or they got enough complaints to change it. Maybe they'll also listen to the wails of "no V8 six speed?"Only one engine choice now for the 5th's leaves the door wide open for them now after the 4 banger was a bust!
What do other people with 2011's have for horns?

Good thread, and timely. I just got my '10 Trail, and the absolute first complaint I had was the 'weenie' horn, and that became 1st-Mod priority. Was going to rob my FIAMMs from the 80, but needed a quicker temporary fix. Installed (easily) a cheapo 'Bad Boy' self contained dual tone air horn (from O'reilly), went on in about minutes per all the other posts (no relay necessary, direct plug in with Ground jumper) . IMMEDIATELy a less embarassing sound thatn the OEM, but am still going to get the FIAMMs on.
4Wheeler - looks like you may have the same one....I've not had any probs with fuses blowing, but then again it's only been on the car since Monday.

I own a 2010 SR5, purchased late November 09, and a 2011 SR5 purchased mid Dec 11. For sure the 2011's have a much better horn than the 2010.
The 2010 is high pitch, at best. The 11 sounds like a light duty truck horn, pleasant on the ears compared to the 10. to say the least. I expect my new horn(s) fiam's to arrive early next week.

So, the great price on my FIAMM's makes sense to me now. I bought a brand new set of FIAMM's from Amazon shipped from Source Media Group (Whitestown, IN). After removing the original "new" seal, and opening the clam shell plastic, all I received was the two horns + one red cover. There were no brackets, bolt, relay, and only one of the red covers was included.
Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed as I had planned to install them tonight. So, I'm packing them back up and sending them back. Went to Pep Boys and found a Low Tone Freeway Blaster Horn. It's only one horn and it was $19.99 + tax, so I purchased it and installed it in less than 20 minutes. Sound is much better than the OEM horn.
In the pics below, you will see the OEM horn on the left. In the middle are the FIAMM's with the missing parts, and on the right is the Freeway Blaster I installed. This is my first mod and I feel like I'm getting close to matching the mods of Harper 7. Well, not even close ...

Interesting....I also ordered from Amazon, but received new horns. I think I remember paying a few dollars more for them than you had quoted, but none the less, that sucks that you got crappy used horns!
I'm also glad you posted pics of your OEM horn - it definitely does not look like what was in my 2011. Still interested in finding out if other '11 owners have the same "good horns" as i have OEM.
