New Fiamm Horn Install

Obviously Toyota caught on because there are the proper horns on the 2011 Limited. I just replaced my 2010 Limited Horns with 2011 Limited Horns. No wire cutting, no blown fuses, no mods needed.....although I will have to take out a small loan against my house.

Went to the dealership, looked through the grill of a 2011 Limited, saw that they were the "snail-shaped" horn instead of the disc shaped. Went into the parts dept and said I wished to order 2011 4Runner Limited high and low pitch horns. They said they needed a VIN #.....so I walked out to the lot, wrote down the 2011's VIN, gave them the number and ordered the horns.... $85 a piece.

I had this same issue with my 2000 Tundra. Toyota put the "Herbie the Love Bug" horns on that when they first came out. Waited a year and ordered 2001 horns.

It's crazy...I know, but its the best $170 I'll ever spend....considering I won't do any mod non-Toyota. Call me lame.....huh!

I do agree that the 2010 horns make people laugh and I'm sure my purchase will make people laugh, as well.

That is insane!!! I'll sell you mine for $50. But honestly the new fiamm horns were just as easy, and cost less than $20

Been there, did that. You have to use the relay because in the first few microseconds the horn requires more juice then the 10 or 20 fuse will allow. The first relay that was included with the horn was bad. Had to buy a second one for like $5 and everything works great. Love the Bad Boy from WOLO!

How do you install the relay? Did you install it into the fuse box? Did you also run new wire to the unit? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just wanted to say a quick THANKS for all the detailed write-ups on here! I installed my El Grandes this weekend in the same location as TitanPat. I tried to get away with only installing one of the horns, in the stock location, and not having to rig up a harness, since it was all new to me, but it sounded horrible. The wiring wasn't bad afterall though so I'm glad I did it. I'm thinking of changing the locations later and mounting them on the "Limited" stock locations like Harper's pics show. I removed the plastic cover around the hood latch and saw that the SR5 has the mounting hole for it but I would have to order another mounting bolt. Satisfied for now. Thank again!

I am a new member to this forum but have been reading the threads for a while. Great information, people. Thank you to all who have taken the time to take pictures and post their knowledge on here. Like most other people, I couldn't believe the horn Toyota decided to install in my '10 SR5. I decided to order the Fiamm El Grandes from Amazon.com (~$16), and was going to install them as TitanPat did, but once I got in there I changed my mind and hung them like harper7. Partly because the two metal bracket pieces that came with mine did not have the bend in them, but were straight like the bracket piece that held the OEM horn. Only thing that sucked about that was having to run back to the hardware store to get an 8mm bolt, washer and lock washer.

The Fiamms sound so much better. Wholesale, what would it have cost Toyota to put in a decent horn in the first place? $5 more per truck? Sheesh...

I finally replaced the horn and the write up was excellent and exactly what I did.

Well like a lot of guys Toyota's horn is just that....a toy.

This hopefully will help with a swap out of the Fiamm horns a few other guys have used here.

Overall this a simple, inexpensive fix to an annoying problem.

I have a Trail Edition, and it had one horn located on the drivers side.

The first step was to remove the plastic cowling allowing access to the horn/ Front of radiator area.

Gently push the fastners (almost like a pop)down holding the cowling in place, I then used my pocket knife to gently lift them and take them out. There were 13 in total

With the cowling off, disconnect the horn screw, and then the power lead snaps off and pulls out.

One picture shows all the parts laid out on the floor.

I used the bracket in the middle (directly under the hood latch 8"-10")to hold the horns, there was a hole already in the bracket which worked great, the original location would not fit two horns together.

Next I wired the the two horns, test fit the brackets, insureing the horns were pointed at about a 45 degree angle to the ground...don't want any water collecting in there.

I took a rat tail file and made sure the bracket and screw had a good groundMetal to metal). Installed a 3/8" bolt with washers, and tightend the whole mess down. I touched it up with a coat of clear spray.

Snapped the hot lead for the original horn onto the new blade connector, gave a wrap of electrical tape for protection, tested (worked!!....dont know how in the hell that happened....) and istalled the cowling back on.

One note..the clips seem a little tender, when I re-installed them I grabbed them by the outer edges and pushed gently down until the center button popped back up...then I kind of remolded them wih my fingers, popped them back in the holes, and pushed the center down till it locked....peice of cake.

My question: the new horns came with a relay. Is the relay necessary when using these horns on a Tundra?

...but I found 3 horns in my '10 Limited.

I found 2 horns side by side in front of the radiator and a 3rd horn (at least it looks like a horn) next to the air filter box. I had to move this horn when I installed my aFe CAI.

Does anyone else have 3 horns, or have a horn near their air filter? The aFe instructions indicated that if there is a horn there, then you'll need to move it.

Installed the Fiamm horns a few months ago but I feel like they aren't really very loud. Now I'm wondering if I could have botched this mod somehow. Anyone else have a similar issue? I used 16gauge wire if that makes a difference.

There was another threaded hole just down a little. need to reverse the bracket and install at a bit of angle.

Thank you to ALL.... I got my horns finally installed. I got EL Grande from Amazon as well and made my wires in to "Y" type with "quick connect" to connect both horns to original connector. I also removed hood latch plastic cover and installed one horn and installed another horn at previous location as stated in tread. Very easy and it took me about totol 30mins to prepare wiring, take the cover out and to reconnect and to final check. I have TE and only have one horn but both horns are getting very good attention from the traffic. Thank you all. Love the sound of my horns now!!!

I owe you guys some pictures of FIAMM EL Grande horns installed in my 2010 TE. It was indeed very ez to follow and install. I installed them sometimes ago in Sept of 2010 and no one can ignore me on NY's "always congested" traffic. :driving: Happy Holidays, y'all...
