New Shoes!!!!

I want to thank snow&surf for finding these bad boys and putting them on his truck. I saw them and fell in love. I was already in the process of downsizing wheel size and saw these and knew they were the ones.

The wheels are Ultra Gauntlets 17X9 with a -12mm offset.

The tires are Nitto Trail Grapplers 295/70R17.

These puppies are big, much bigger than my old 33's. If you look in the rear clearance pic you will see I am hitting the body mount. I think this may need to be modified, exactly like the body chop that you do on FJ's. Not a big deal since I have already done it in order to get 35's on my old FJ.

I ordered Icon remote res. CO's and Camburg UCA's which should be here soon. There is a chance that by getting a little more lift in front I can get away with not doing the body mount chop. Only time will tell.

After having these on a couple days I am definitly going to love the new UCA's. The tires are just much bigger and heavier than my old rims and tires and the UCA's should do a better job controlling them.

Anyways keep you guys posted on the lift install. Just wanted to share some pics.

PS- Don't know if you can tell from the pic but took about 3 inches off the front bumper! I think it looks better, solved some rubbing issues and I dont really care about it because that ugly thing is coming off as soon as I decide between Demello or ARB.

BTW, thanks for being one of the first pioneers on this forum for 5th gen modifications. My join date doesn't represent it, but I lurked on here since Nov/Dec 2009 and seen the work you've put in. Your compliments for my setup is much appreciated. Can't wait to see your truck lifted:hungry:

I'm going back and forth between the ATX Artillery's and the Gauntlets. As much as I like to burn a new trail, those wheels look too good.

Can't wait to see what they look like on a black runner.

It is always so much fun to get a new ride and trick it out! It makes it more of a challenge when you get a new model. I enjoy finding solutions that are not easy to come by.

35's huh? I think it is definitely possible. For sure new front and rear bumpers for clearance, probably a 1" body lift and body mount chop. I had to extend my rear bump stops on my FJ because of travel issues with 35's but other than that with the chop the front was just fine with CO's. Can't wait to see it, hurry up and wear those 33's down

Are you gonna chop that body mount at all? It looks like it will tear your tire up over time, plus thats just when the wheel isnt stuffed at all.

edit, I see you already have it covered. they look tight, once you get rid of that spacer it'll be all that much better!

Looks way better!!And congrats in advance on the upcoming Icon and Camburg set-up. With big tires like these the aftermarket UCA's are the ticket for road stabilty.Can't wait to see pics!

You'll see how flimsy looking the oem UCA's are compared to your Camburgs when you change them.I put my TC UCA's on 2 weeks before my Icons as I wanted to feel the difference and I noticed immediately.

Yes definitly! I chopped the body mount today, just made me feel better having it out of the way, a lot more room behind the tire now. I also took alot out of the front. I had trimmed for my last set of tires and had to trim again for these. However, the front clearance wont be an issue if you get a new front bumper. You can make it work, just think about it twice and cut once

@ cgill00 - BFLAN is right, you will need to trim the fender liner. my grapplers are 33" and I needed to trim about 3" of liner almost all the way across the fender to stop the rubbing with the wheel are full lock. both yours and BFLAN's are 33.5" so there's no way around it. in regards to the body mount, my tires have about 1/4" clearance at full wheel lock so no chop was required, while BFLAN's pics showed rubbing. something to think about.

and the size of the grapplers is no joke, they are true to Nitto's spec sheet. pics do these tires no justice!

BFLAN, do you mean that you just took that spoiler off the bottom of the front bumper? Or did you actually chop higher than that? Can you post pics of that? I really want to improve my approach angle without doing the Harper7 TE mod...but not sure about chopping in that area...would like to see...thanks! Like those sliders too! BTW, Your truck looks NASTY!
