I think someone stated in the other thread that Sears said they discontinued the platinum line. If you go online, you can't find any in stock at any Sears. If you do, and buy it, there won't be any type of warranty for it

As far as the Diehard Platinum, was there an article you saw stating they no longer provide this line? I still see them available both on the sears site as well as the Diehard site DieHard | Car Batteries

Diehard doesn't make the Platinum line anyway, they are produced by Odyssey, and have been for years.

I quoted you along with the other guy b/c you mentioned you wouldn't go with the Northstar battery due to his reasoning, so I was just explaining the facts about the Platinum series. They still list their batteries on sears and online, due to the fact that people still own them (like me) and might want to go back and look at their specs. You wont be able to order them even if they list them for sale. Maybe some random sites have them (which likely wont carry a warranty) or some stores have a few lingering around. For the most part, they're all gone.

Diehard Platinum was just a rebadged Odyssey made a little cheaper b/c of their contract with Sears.

Actually my reply was to the OP's statement :

"i had to call the distributor on this one:
you will contact the distributor and he will ask you to go to your nearest auto parts store to test it out.
if the auto parts store finds the battery defective, the distributor will send you a new battery.
more than likely the distributor will want to talk to the autoparts store to obtain data from the testing."

But I was unaware that Sears and Diehard no longer provided the platinum series, which was one I was considering.

Maybe I will just get an Interstate from Costco for $72. Could replace several times at that price :pound:

Anyways, back to our regularly scheduled (and highly derailed) group buy.

I haven't done a GB here, and i don't know how payment and shipping work though. Can you help w/ that? And does this come w/ the 4 year warranty? (if i bring it in to an auto parts store, etc..)

Also, i don't know how long everyone's been waiting, but i say hold out for 21!

I'm using the 31M instead of the Sears Platinum AGM GR 31...they are discontinuing it. Most everything I've been reading has a Northstar out in front of every other battery. A friend that builds boats also highly recommend them.

The best price I could find was West Marine, but this beats it.

As far as everything(cables) reaching, that remains to be seen. If I have cross that bridge once I get it. My plan with the new truck, is waive the second battery, build my own full length roof rack, and incorporate a drop in solar panel over the sun roof area, to supplement the fridge running all summer.

I'm also going to carry as small li-ion battery pack for emergency starts.
