Scotty I got old man emu coil springs in the rear. Not sure what the part number is. In the front I just cranked up the torsion bars and I have Bilstein shocks at all four corners. I plan to install some ball joint spacers and relax the torsion bars a bit because the ride is a little rough. I have 285/75/16 falken wild peaks mounted on 16x8 FN five star wheels. I think that's equivalent to 33's. No rubbing at all.

IMO, it's really arrogant to assume that you know enough to buy your own parts but then go running to a mechanic to install them for you.

The Mechanic is a friend that is helping me put it in. He told me to get everything I need and want and he would help. I'm still learning a lot in the mech world have to start somewhere and was just trying to get lots of points of view before spending a lot of money. But thanks for your two cents wish it had an opinion on anything that could help me with the lift.

Thanks that answers a lot. I have been reading other posts and it sounds like shocks, springs and BJ's is all I need to get started. I'll figure out performance from there. Great looking t4runner by the way can't wait to get mine lookin that good gata love the look of the 2nd gens.

You can almost fit 33x10.5 tires at stock height. To fit 33x12.5s on the cheap, you'll just need to trim and hammer the pinch weld in front, then run a ball joint spacer in front and coil spacer in the rear. Your stock shocks will work.

Frenched rear spring hangars, reversed f-150 springs. Skys drop shackles. Sitting on bald moch up 38.5 swampers for now. Front suspension is stock getting ready for 3 link. Extensive tubbing to firewall and rear fenderwells to keep it low as possible.

You will want to get extended shocks with bj/coil spacer combo.
I have a '95 3.0 4runner with a 2" OME lift kit installed, OME torsion bar in front and medium weight springs in the rear. I've taken the running boards off and plan to install Bushwhacker fender flairs after having some body work done. I'm planning on getting a set of Goodyear MTR's for the winter.
1) If I went with 33/12.5-15 's would they fit without any trimming or pounding?
2) Also, should I then go with a wider rim? Or a 16" ?
3) How much of a performance difference would I notice with standard gearing? I've already installed headers and a 2.25" fatback exhaust to boost pick up.
This is my daily driver but I don't put a lot of miles on or often drive on highway. I don't do any serious off roading but I want to be able to and to have it do well in snow.

Stock lift with 31/10.5/15
planning to put ome 2in lift with new torsion bars, darak springs, and ome shocks. I was wondering if i could put 35s in it. If not, I think i would stick with 33s. If anyone could help me decide that would be awesome. thanks!

Why? I didn't, ran it for a couple years like that. Stock shocks have enough travel to accomodate the extra 1.5 inches.

If I am looking to gain just 1" of ride height on my 89, to even out its stance with the rear (has added leafs that make it just a bit too high in the rear), do I really need to buuy a BJ spacer kit? I just want to crank the T-bars to gain 1", nothing more.
I can't see that doing any harm to the front end...opinions? For all I know the front end has sagged 1" in 25 years anyway..

I like the Zukmod, for a nice budget lift. If you have the coin, OME springs and shocks are awesome and will give you about 2". If you have the fab skills, swapping to 63" Chevy springs can ride nice too once you get the spring packs dialed in.

I did 2" SHORT add a leaves. My total cost was around $57. The leaves were $37, the new longer u-bolts were about $20.
It wound up making the rear about an inch higher than the front.
If you did LONG leaves, by say Rancho (they make a 2" kit), you wouldn't really feel much of a ride comfort difference. Shackles are fine, but I wouldn't use blocks.
My 2" short leaves did stiffen the ride, and in the summers I keep the top off and the rear is a bit stiff. It is because they are short and thick and have little give. The difference in ride is minor though.
The zuk mod is the way to go, just really do your homework and examine the amount of sag you have because if you over do it with the zuk, the truck will look ridiculously high in the rear. I've seen some bad results around the internet. Its a matter of getting the right spring rate, and possibly cutting the springs once.
The Zuk is worth it though in regards to articulation. Unfortunately there are tons of how-to's and people using all different types of springs from donor trucks or black magic, so really take your time, check your height and do your homework.
If you are just leveling the rear back up with the front you cannot go wrong with either a shackle lift (@ 2"), a long leaf add a leaf kit, or the Zuk.

Thanks. I'm thinking of just adding some 2" shackles and calling it good. I'll be putting new shocks on it as well. Probably just get a set of KYB's from Rock Auto for $115 for the set. Mine is just a daily driver / bad weather / camping vehicle for when I don't want to ride a motorcycle so I don't want to go crazy with it.
