Official Classics Lift and Tire thread

I'm in the market for some new tires and have been comparing BFG AT's and the Duratracs. I have the BFG's on the 4runner right now, and have had them on other rigs in the past and I like them. I now live off the pavement at about 5800 ft, but do drive to work on the highway. We get pretty deep snow where I live, and the BFG's did pretty good this last winter, but the toyo mud terrains on my F350 did a bit better in the deeper stuff. I know about tread block spacing and wheel speed to clean out the lugs. The BFG's need a relatively slow speed to clean out, where a typical mud terrain will need a higher speed to clean up. So I've been looking at the duratracs for kind of a cross between an all terrain and a mud/snow tire. Can anyone chime in on their experiences with the duratracs? I understand that they have a weaker sidewall and are more prone to getting punctures, but they are still a 6 ply sidewall if I am not mistaken. We have some pretty sharp rocks here in MT and so far that is the one thing that is turning me off about them. What about tread life? Anyone running them for a bit to sound off about this as well?

I just got some 1.5" ball joint spacers for the front of my 93, im going to need new/longer shocks up front, what do you guys recommend?

Okay so I've searched every single page on this thread and can't seem to find but one or two 32x11.50's, I'm thinking about either getting that size in the BFG KO and just running stock height with the C255 coils, or possibly 33x12.50r15's with the BJ spacers and FJ80 coils. I mostly just do trails and some mud other than this being my daily driver, what would yall recommend for my situation? I'm not sure how stuffed in those 33's can go at full compression, but I haven't heard of any rubbing issues with the lift

32x11.5s will probably fit, but you might get some rubbing on the firewall at stuff and lock. 33x12.5s are stupid-wide, you will rub on the pinchweld when turning and it'll get much worse when stuffed, and balljoint spacers won't entirely take that away, you'll need to pound and trim.

If you want 33s, go for the 33x10.5 skinnies and you'll have much less rubbing to take care of. You'll have better traction in the mud too.

You should be be fine, I ran spacers and stock shocks for a while. The key is whether the shocks limit your downtravel - if they do, you'll break 'em. Put the spacers on and measure your droop, then unbolt the shock and measure your droop again. If the numbers are the same you're good to go.

If you do go with new shocks, OME Nitrochargers are great for a street truck that sees lots of dirt, and they're designed for 1.5" - 2.5" of lift.

Perfect. Just what I needed to know. Both of my stock shocks broke when I tried to take the top nut off, guess they were a little seized up and I hulked on them a little too hard. Looks like I'll be ordering some OME Nitrochargers soon! Any specific part number for my application?

Here's the ARB 4Runner application guide http://www.arbusa.com/uploads/PDF/accessorizeYourRig/toyota4Runner.pdf. If I'm reading that right the part number is 60072, but I'd call ToyTec or another reputable retailer and confirm that before you order.

Yes, that is the correct part number from the research I've done. That is an expensive shock! I honestly can't afford something that expensive right now, I just need to get this money pit back on the road. After some more research I've come up with a couple other options, and this Pro-Comp shock appears to be a good value and it has an 18" extended length, with an 11" compressed length. What do you think about it?

Ok. I noticed some of the reviews were saying that they made for a stiff ride. Just need to find a Gabriel or Monroe that's 15"+ extended length...

Here ya go, I'm not sure if you've looked at Summit Racings' website yet but they seem to have a pretty good selection, and quite a bit come in the size you want. I'm actually looking for shocks for the same lift/application and ran across this

Right on! Thanks for the help. That's actually where I came across the ProComps!

I don't know if you've ordered any shocks yet but my Runner had the Gabriel Ultra's on it when I bought it and I couldn't be happier. Awesome ride and stiff but not too stiff in the trails. Just ordered a new set for the rear, the front ones are still good at the moment (knock on wood).

Okay I just need some of y'all's input on a couple options I can't make my mind up on. I Keep going back and forth on whether I want to keep my Runner stock ride height and run 32x11.5's or get the BJ/LC lift and get a set of 16" steelies wrapped in 285/75's. It's a 1992 3VZE (new engine is not stock, bored and cammed) with the A340H auto tranny and I'm pretty sure 4.88's but maybe 4.56's, I'll have to clarify. It's my daily driver but I also hit the trails (nothing major like huge rock crawling or anything) quite a bit, and I want to know if I'd have to regear if I get the 285's? I haven't read anything for a 2nd gen on that size so that is why I'm asking, however I understand they are basically a 33x11.5, and I've read you DO have to regear if you go to a 33 (then again some people don't, like fo'runnin' on his 4.88's if I'm correct). I really really don't want to have to regear, money will be tight if I get the lift as it is due to new wheels/tires and shocks/coil springs, etc. But my main question is what do you guys think would be the best option being my DD?

That's what I ended up ordering! lol At full droop they are only 3/8" too short, and only losing 3/8" of travel doesn't really bother me... Also, I'm sure I could gain back that 3/8" with a couple washers on top of the shock.

I need to be pointed in the right direction for a lift kit for my 91' with 3.0. It is rear coil spring.
Would like complete front and rear kit. But mostly rear as I might SAS it
