Ouch! That was one hell of a rock!

Rock about the size of a golf ball flew off a rock hauler and wound up in the 3gen's windshield. I think I actually prefer that it hit the windshield instead of the body. Regardless, I almost voided in my seat when this happened at 70mph!! Oh well, got 203015 miles out of this windshield! TGIF everyone!

your's is much nastier though, 248k out of my ORIGINAL windshield! anyone know how much these cost from Toyota?

That was my original window too! We've had the truck since 1997 with 20K miles...
Not sure how much from Toyota but Safelite is replacing it today for $236.

Well this is the first crack in my window, I've had rocks so big i see them coming (with 1-2 seconds of reaction time) and it made a small spider at point of impact, and that was all. So i think i want to replace it with the same OEM glass, guess i'll be calling Toyota to hear the damage.

When my 97 limited windshield with bronze glass got a huge stress crack I had to call 3 or 4 places before I found someone who could.

1) get bronze glass and
2) was less than $150 out the door.

I think I paid $145 total at a shop in Santa Rosa, CA in 2010.

I busted mine loading 4" PVC pipe about six years ago. Safelite replacement looked original and has been perfect. Under $200 at the time, I think.

That happened to me back in high school in my first 4runner. I was driving to the coast with a couple friends and all the sudden a river rock the size of a softball got kicked up by a truck in front of me and hit my windshield dead center, luckily it didn't shatter but I felt like I was driving Ace Ventura's car.

That is the one good thing about MA. With your MA car insurance policy you get one free windshield a year if needed due to the amount of gravel they put on the roads out here in the winter. No deductible to pay either!

Amen to that. I get a new windshield every other or third year just to have clear glass. All the nicks and pits can really impair your visibility. My 2000 runner is on it's fourth or fifth windshield and is probably due for another now that we are talking about it...
I am a bit nervous about it since there has been a nasty bit 'o cancer in the sheet metal around the window frame behind the adhesive (no doubt due to the many windshield replacements hwell.
