OW 2.0 2.5 owners, give your two pennies!

Emailed my question to Andries and received a response within a few hours. I am going with either this kit, Toytec Ultimate, or Radflo kit from Toytec. I have had great communication from both companies, now its just scouring the boards for reviews on the other kits. The Radflo kit looks identical to the OW2.0, but $200 cheaper, there has to be a difference I am missing to have the lower price.

I'm going to post my own experiences since I had the OW 2.5 kit for 7000 miles then switched to OME.

When I first got the OW kit, I had a bad front coilover and it made awful noise. Of course didn't know that it had no nitrogen in it until after installing it. So, I had to remove it and get a replacement from OW. That part was easy since they have great customer service but it was a pain to remove and time on my part. The second problem I had with the kit was that I was getting 3.25" of lift in the rear which meant I had to crank up the fronts to match, creating a very harsh ride. This when I have an ARB bumper and warn 9.5xp winch as well. This didn't make me happy and never settled after 7k miles.

So, I took everything off and went with the OME kit. I got just under 3" of lift all around and the ride is actually better. I've had OME on all my vehicles and should have gone this route. OME has the added benefit of no maintenance. This can be a plus and a con but I don't like to take off the suspension any more than I have to so OME was a better choice for me.

Again, just my personal experience.

Scott

Really sorry to hear we couldn't close the issue out with you last year. We actually revisited our rear coil design last year to improve the overall ride and lower lift height. We swapped out rear coils for some customers that had a similar experience, apologies that we we never got to close the loop with you.

The OW 2.0 kit uses high end fully rebuildable Radflo shocks on the front and the back. Radflo also make the shocks to our specific specification, both in terms of dimension and valving. We also use our own rear coils, in silver to match the rest of the kit :D

Hope that helps to clarify things.

Yeah the alignment guy just loosened the nut on the UCA and pushed it in a little bit and the squeeking noise stopped.

Harper7 I put the suspension on a 2010 SR5. I think I will have the mechanic from my trusted Toyota dealer ride with me and see what he thinks it might be. Maybe its just time I trade in for a new white one. :)

Let us know what you find. Try removing the front skids and swaybar as they tend to be a good source of noise even if everything seems tight.

Thank you! I have a question about the rebuild replacements as well, are they shipped ready to bolt on, or only the shock and the spring is swapped? What is the cost and estimated interval for rebuilds?

Will send you an email, as we are taking the thread way off topic (apologies to the OP :) ).

This thread is not going off topic at all. Those are some of the questions I am looking for answers to as well. I would be looking at a OW 2.5 kit, as skids and bumpers are more than likely in the future, and will use Camburg UCA.

Can you send me this e-mail too? I'd like to hear the process for rebuilds and intervals. I'm looking at your 2.0 shocks :thumb3:

If it is okay with Overland Warehouse, I will happily copy the contents and paste them here for those searching.

Guy in a brown truck delivered my 2.5 OW parts today. Install will be next Wed. Honestly my only fear is that I will need to up shoe from 265 to 285 which I really really don't want to do but think it just may look silly if I don't.

265 Duratracs will look just fine IMHO. I would step to 285s, but we know how I constantly waste money to make changes :moping:

I stuck with my 265 DTs and think it looks fine. I might try 285s at some point, but I just don't like all that extra width.

Put the lift on then decide. You aren't going to put the tires on first so see how you feel about it yourself. I wanted bigger tires for better performance on the trail, not looks but I honestly like the look better too. All comes down to personal preference.

Since you are the OP and more people seem to want to know what is going on with the swap out :keyboard:

The program works as follows:
- Contact OW, we charge you a deposit on your CC or Paypal
- We then ship you a set of rebuild coilovers or rear shocks
- You swap coilovers and/or shocks with minimal down time
- Once your truck is up and running you ship your old stuff back
- Once we get the stuff back we return your deposit minus the rebuild fee and shipping costs (Rebuild fee is around $150 for pair of COs and $100 pair of rear shocks (mostly parts and labor), pending if extra items need replacement).

You also have the option to ship your stuff directly to Radflo, and wait for them to rebuild and send back. This can be slightly cheaper, as we insists on replacing all typical wear items as we want to make sure the rebuild items are more like remanufactured items, whereas Radflo can inspect and let the customer know if items still have some life left in them before replacement.

Also keep in mind that this can be a good time to have some custom adjustments made in terms of valving and even fit different coils to coilovers.

Lastly high end shocks like Radflo actually last a lot longer between rebuilds than people think with daily driver type vehicles and they definitely hold up much longer than many other shocks when seeing good offroad action.

Some typical items can even be taken care of by owners themselves, or a lot of shops that work on high end shocks can rework these shocks as the parts are available from the manufacturer and most of them are very similar in basic construction and work (if you can change oil on a Toyota, chances are you can also do it on a Nissan :lmao:)

As said above fit and see what you think. Also typically AT tires with more square shoulders tend appear visually more beefy and fill out wheel wells better than highway tires of the same size. So you may want to see what the AT 265s may look like on your 4Runner first before upsizing.

And now we are officially off in the weeds :lmao:
