Procedure to turn off 2008 seat belt chime

How many people have turned off Seatbelt Chime???

I buckled the driver's seat belt after the 15 seconds, but I was counting in my head so the timing may not have been very accurate.

Thanks for the reply Tim. I'm still doing something wrong, and it is driving me freaking crazy. Everytime I get in the car I can feel the seat belt chime laughing at me.

This is what I am doing"

1) make sure the trip meter is in ODO mode.

(Turn car on and set meter to odo mode, then turn back off.)

2) turn the key to the ON position (dont start)

(Done)

3) within a few seconds of turning it to ON, press and hold the trip reset for 15 seconds

(Have waited 1,2,3,4 and 5 seconds after turning to on.)

4) while holding the trip reset, buckle drivers seat belt

(Have done this before, after and exactly at the 15 seconds mark at least 20 times!)

5) odo reading will change to "B-on"

(Never made it to this point...................................)


Has anyone else been able to turn off the beep and have any tips?

I just went out and tried this and it works

That little beeping gets so annoying when I am wheeling, I am very glad that I dont have to be annoyed by it anymore

It's amazing how people can figure things like this out. I would have never known about this until I saw a mention to it on a 120 thread about DRL. How someone could figure out this procedure or where Toyota has documented it is a mystery to me.

This is a great little adjustement you can do. I wish it saved the setting so you didn't have to do it after you remove battery power.

Chime Clarity

Well I followed all the steps. Time after time. This kind of stuff seldom works for me, this was not an exception, until I figured out that the reset button is not the one labeled "reset" used to reset the trip computer but the actual button used to toggle and reset the ODO. Then proceed. Works perfectly! Thanks, great fix. Thank you.

waterboarding........

jeez, my tire install place do a few extra things (had a gift cert to use up) & they dc'd the battery for some reason which resets the seat belt chime. that thing is torture once you've spent a couple years not being bludgeoned by it. this fix is a true gift to mankind.
