Rattling/Squeaky Moon-Sun Roof

Hi Guys,

My 2015 Trail 4Runner has developed some kind of creaking noise emanating from the moon-sun roof going over mild bumps/imperfection in the road.

Can the dealer fixed this? Are there some methods to try at home with respect to fixing these noises?

I have the same problem... if I apply upward pressure on the roof it seems to stop. It’s completely random when it makes noise and when it doesn’t... drives me crazy. I’m curious to see if anyone has corrected this issue.

My 2016 SR5's sunroof has been rattling randomly since day 1 just about. It's progressively gotten worse and now I get what almost sounds like metal on metal sound right above my head when driving at highway speeds on a windy day. It's basically reaffirmed my intention to never buy another vehicle with a hole in the roof. Wouldn't even bother trying to get a dealership to diagnose as I can see the "couldn't duplicate" response from a mile away.

I am thinking about wedging a few rubber bushings in the track to keep some upward pressure on the glass. I didn’t want a sunroof to begin with.... definitely will never buy another vehicle with one.

Mine is doing this. I took it to the dealer but they said they didn't hear it. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I'm getting a bit excited to yell at people when I take it back in.

last year someone dug in to it and determined it was the accordion-folded piece that made the squeaking. I checked mine, and it was the same piece making the racket. I tried a tiny piece of gorilla tape on it for a temporary fix, and it was silent for the first time. I wound up leaving the tape, as it's not visible, and solved the issue for me.
