So I was in the process of trying to remove my cv axles off to fix a worn boot. Jacked T4R up, removed lugnuts and tire...then I was confused as hell! If anyone can help me out on the rest of this process it would be greatly appreciated...by the way it's a 1995 Toyota 4Runner.

Hub has to come off, might have to pull the lower ball joint in order to get the cv out. There are also 6 bolts that hold the CV to the diff.
IMO Just change the whole CV. Your going to have a hell of a time getting the boot to stretch over the joint.
i have done both sides on mine in the last few weeks and yes you have to remove everything remove all those bolts on the outside of hub(by the lugnuts)pull that cover off and there is a c clip on the shaft remove that first,also i was able to remove the upper balljoint to drop the hub assembly enough out of the way to remove the shaft. good luck kinda a pain to do these
i have a 95 too, did mine last year. as far as the hub goes, yes you will need to remove all that junk in the hub to access the main nut that holds the cv from slipping off the spline.
HERE IS THE BEST TIP OF THE DAY!!: use a punch and BFH to knock out the 6 bolts that hold the other side of the cv to the differential. after you do this the cv will literally just drop right out, you dont even need to jack up the truck to remove them! i replaced the bolts with some similar ones from ace hardware and now i can change my cv's out on the trail in i need too.. anybody who know's how much of a pain cv's can be will agree with this quote.. "umm winning"
