Rumbley Rumble Strip Troubleshoot (NOT Tranny or Tires)

Have been TS'ing this rumble problem for a few months now. I have eliminated the trans and tires as culprits. Leaning toward bearings.

Story:
Rumble started developing back in October. it was subtle and only between 50mph and 70mph. It has developed into a hard rumble, anyspeed above 25mph, and I can make it go away by slightly turning the steering to the left. Turning back to the right slightly almost immediately brings it back.

I had already planned on a tranny fluid swap, so I did that end of October and added shudder fixx. No change.

Just had new tires put on (Falken AT3's) yesterday and felt the rumble on the way home. I did not feel it at all this morning however.

With trans and tires out, I'm left with bearings. I'll see how the next few days go, but will probably be replacing bearings shortly.

Does anyone else have any insight or experience with this rumbling?

Wheelbearings seems like a good guess. Wouldn't hurt to grease your driveshaft (if not already done) just to eliminate other parts of the driveline.

Or your stomach  Mine does that all the time

Which size did you end up with on the Falkens?

should have mentioned driveshaft lubing. its done. been fighting the thunk since i bought the vehicle. just purchased the replacement shaft too - once the weather is warmer that thing is getting slapped on.

interestingly enough, i didn't feel the rumble again today. I still think bearing. The guy at the tire shop showed me everything was within proper alignment, yet the truck pulls to the right pretty good.

went with 265/70r17 on the falkens. im on stock suspension (maybe billies in the spring) but not looking for a ton of lift. just some slight rubbing at full lock, will have to tend to that.

100% wheel bearing issue. The dead give away is the turning of the wheel makes it go away. There are two guys on here that sell hub assemblies. Just replace the whole assembly and do both at the same time. Cost you $350

once i had the tires replaced and still felt it, i knew the dead giveaway was the dead giveaway. just seems odd that its almost completely subsided since new shoes. perhaps the old tires were causing resonance, exacerbating the bearing.

i have seen the guys here that sell bearings; one is in jersey and is closeish to me. i was considering doing both at the same time, thanks for confirming that.

as always t4r, thanks for talking me through this one. :thumb3:
