Safari snorkel on a 5th gen?

Finally installed mine Friday after work. Took about 3.5 hours. Managed to only destroy about 3 of those damn plastic clips. Install was pretty easy for the most part. Used a jig saw with metal blade to cut the large hole, which made it fast and easy, plus less heat than with a cut off wheel.

I'm going to do mine this week after work while my wife is on a business trip (it's just better that way), where exactly are you around town? $550 sounds ridiculous, not sure we could knock two out in one night as I am not super handy so things go slow, but I am happy to help after I've done mine.

Put a couple layers of tape on the base of the jigsaw to protect your paint. Also, drill a couple of starter holes right to the line so you can get at it from a couple different positions.

As of right now, no plans for the snorkel. I am doing the rear diff breather mod, wheel spacers, and adding my lower link armor this week. When are you planning on doing your snorkel install? I'd like to stop over and watch you drill holes into your vehicle!

Looks great on your truck... Maybe best so far. All ties in like it should.

Should have mine soon, but I may not install right away since I have other parts coming.

Did you order with Sierra Expeditions?
I had a pre order with them for the last container and called when the word hit that it had come in to port. They wanted to call me but a format issue on the Web site for the pre order, had letters listed for some of my phone number. I was glad I called. We finalized and mine arrived last week. Hopefully your wait isn't much longer.

FYI, a dremel with a metal cutting disc worked awesome for the large hole. If you use the dremel, get a few discs. It eats through at least 2-3.

I used the 1 1/2" dremel disc. Didn't even use half of it for the whole hole. I was at speed 17 and kept the pressure very light.

Yea, I could have finished it with one but it started getting really dull. Was just advising people it would be a good idea to have a few on hand so they don't have to stop and go to the store to get more if one gets too dull or breaks.

As I am still waiting on mine, I have already helped a buddy do his. Between he and I it was a very simple install.

For those of you who do not want to spend that kind of coin because you're unsure of the direction to go, then sit tight and I will make a detailed video of the install. The most important aspect of the entire procedure is knowing the tools you're working with and your own skillset. With that being said, you don't have to be a master mechanic that works on formula one cars to operate a dremel and a step bit. Just be diligent and methodical. Do not proceed with anything unless you are absolutely certain of the result.

Additionally, people keep claiming that they are breaking the plastic retainers, thats because they just don't give a **** and can get new ones for ~$.25/ ea. Thats all good and to each their own, but I can show you how to remove them all without breaking.

If my sources are correct, the container arrived into port Monday. It probably is still in the process of being unloaded. Then inspected by customs, then shipped to ARB's distribution center, yada yada.... My estimates are that it will ship to me by the end of next week. So, if you all that are doubtful and don't want to spend that kind of coin, sit tight and I will make sure we have a good video to go off of.

Ouch, seems like a "We don't really want to do it so we'll throw out a ridiculous quote", must be the liability of buying a new fender if something goes wrong.

I did at least half of the work last night before getting tired and going to bed. Got my holes made, it really isn't that bad if you follow directions and reference the awesome pictures folks have posted in this thread. A drill and a dremel will get it done, I am happy to help you but you have to make the holes! I'll try to finish up tonight. Sounds like @imturne1 will be making a video, could wait and see how you feel about doing it after that.
