STOLEN: 2001 Sport

Hey everyone!

I've been a long time lurker on this forum and appreciate all of the knowledge and help that you guys provided. Unfortunate circumstances have brought me to create my first thread.

Last night my Black 2001 Sport was stolen from a shop in Twisp Washington and I would just like to ask the community to keep an eye out for any parts that may pop up here or on CL that could help us find these tweaked out bastards. If anyone has any insights on dealing with car theft I am open to hear them, since this is my first.

It's mostly stock, but has a few aftermarket pieces.
-Shrockworks front bumper (black)
-Rigid duallys (on top of the bumper)
-2 x Phoenix Gold amplifiers
-Phoenix Gold component sets in the front doors
-Solo Baric 10" subwoofer
-Also new BFG T/A KOs

I'm sorry to hear it. Hopefully it's recovered in good shape.

I like the idea of hard manual labor in prison, for worthless thieves.

Not trying to bring up any issues but did you know this shop very well? There was a ring of shops that would do this back when I was 16 in my city. My buddy dropped his very clean decked out Integra at a shop for some audio work and it was stolen. Finally it turned out there where shops that would actually have people take the car or steal the stereo equipment out of the vehicles.

I will never leave a vehicle at a shop overnight unless they promise to be liable, keep vehicle inside or I wont use them. Luckily I dont need shops often. Just something to think about.

Beautiful Area

Sorry to hear that. You've got a beautiful playground up there just east of the Cascades.

This is the first time I've ever had to take it to a shop since I was hundreds of miles from home. It's a really small community and a trustworthy shop that's been there for 15+ years. That being said I am suspect of anyone who's holding my keys when my rig disappears. This is the first vehicle theft they've had in the chief of police's tenure which makes it all the more suspicious. Usually when there is a crime committed the whole town knows about it and the perp is found out and dealt with.

Thieves are the worst kind of evil in the world. If you find out who stole it could we arrange a party in which we use the thief as a pinata?

Wow! That really sucks, I hope it shows up in one piece.

I feel your pain, I had my two year old motorcycle stolen from me and I still owed money on it. It was found the same day about 100 miles away. I eventually got it back and up and running 2 months later and parked it back at my house. This time I chained it to a concrete pilar and put a rotor lock on it and it was stolen again a few months later. I was living in Florida at the time, I guess Motorcycles are in high demand there.

Had my car stolen once, and a different car broken into and my subs, amp, shoes, CDs stolen another time. I literally have PTSD about it, we were in the Garden of the Gods the other day, and there are signs saying to lock your valuables in trunk, etc. I was seriously panicked leaving my truck in a parking lot.

Hopefully you'll see one of your items on craigslist and you can bring an angry mob to meet the gentleman.

keep an eye on Craigslist in your area and set an alert while you're at it, would be great to catch the bastards redhanded

Hey, sorry to hear your rig got stolen. You listed a pretty good description of your vehicle. A black, 4Runner sport, (with sport hood) and shrockworks front bumper, or perhaps, lack there of, would be a pretty obvious red-flag vehicle for all of us keeping an eye out.

Only other thing I can think of is lets say I have 10 Runners that match your description. Is there anything other that what was already listed that would identify YOUR 4Runner from someone else's 4Runner? Any dents scrapes, ripped seats, funky interior? Everything helps when tracking down YOUR vehicle.

Make sure to hit up some of the popular sites, Yotatech.com, and other 4Runner facebook pages, ‎4RUNNERS4LIFE, 3rd Gen 4runner Mafia for some extra eyes.

When you can, start gridding out the local areas parking lots, residential, apartment parking lots, retail parking lots, and get wider till you are pretty far out. Many times, stolen vehicles don't go that far. You might be surprised. Check to see if you can gleam any information about crime trends in your area to see where stolen vehicles have been recovered. If you call you local PD or sheriff's office, they might be able to give you tips on where to drive by to look.

Good luck brother! I will keep my eyes peeled between Seattle, Kent, and Tacoma. Keep us posted!

Got your back down here in SW WA area... Just added Comprehensive and Collision back onto my policy and changing over to an "Agreed on Value Policy" with Safeco.
