I dropped my T4R off this morning to get the headlight and lumbar TSBs done...Going to pick it up this evening...

Dropped mine off as well... They said the seat is covered but since the haze is very minor (unnoticeable in the right light since I've garaged it mostly during the day) they said some crap about not replacing them cause Toyota won't reimburse them being this lightly hazed. They said they'll buff it out, I said I'll talk to the mgr when I pick it up.
Does anyone know if a clear or light shade tint would protect from future hazing or would it still come back?

Well...Headlights look shiny and new
...Seat is lumbar is nice and quite again...however, apparently it's hard to remember to hook up the front turn signal and fogs harnesses...I didn't notice that until I was almost home...I do have super fast blinker now though...I'm going to be calling the service manager to :rant:...I'll probably just reattach them myself rather than wasting more time at the stealership!! Or I may try to get them to do a few custom programing options.........

tell them that is unacceptable!! Demand them to replace them under the TSB, otherwise call Toyota HQ and complain. Then go to another dealer.

Dropped mine off at Toyota Dealership and was called that they were going to clean off the headlights and buff them out per Toyota Headquarter's guidance. Dealership said they would more than happily replace them, but Toyota would not pay for that work order/invoice as they were recommending a cleaning/buffing. I called Toyota Claims and discussed :rant: with case manager. He told me the same. I've expressed that TSB does not state to clean headlights then replace. I'm close to 36K and rep told me if haze comes back to call him (case manager) directly so he can push for replacement, for now Toyota Engineering says to just clean. Seems they're trying to back off on the high replacements of the headlights! As for the lumbar support, I had the TSB done and mine still makes a creaking sound, not as bad but still creaks, not sure if I should consider it normal/fixed or go back!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the stripping of the paint on that edge could cause peeling or something ugly in the future.
Sucks that if they repair it, I still will no longer have all original factory paint. Seems there's no way I'll come out of this with a 4runner in as good of condition as I brought it into them. If they put in trail headlights AND a trail hood then I guess I'd be satisfied... But I doubt any dealer would care enough to make me happy and only do the bare minimum they are required to do.
a good body shop can do as good or better... the factory paint is sub par anyway

SUCCESS! mrvandelay, sorry bud but I think I got your lights! Two weeks ago, I grabbed a copy of this TSB went to my local dealer and talked to the "not to understanding" service adviser asking to get my headlights replaced now before the 36k/3 year warranty runs out. No go, since my lights were not showing signs of oxidation.
I then wanted to go up the ladder to the service mgr. He was out until the following week. I came back a week later and went straight to him. He understood what I was trying to do, but had to clear it with his "District Rep.". (Replace something that everybody knows EVENTUALLY WILL GO WRONG while still under warranty, even though it really has not happened yet) Two days later, I got an e-mail with a green light.
I then called him back and asked him if it is the same cost, could he order the "TE" lights instead of the SR5....again, no problem. They were installed today in less then 1 hour.
This is for Westwind if he is reading this post. 4 or 5 bolts under the bumper, 3 bolts on top, another 3 bolts at the front of each of the inner wheel cover and without counting the radiator cover, another 5 or 6 clips on top, and the whole front fascia "pops" off. There are "guide clips" that center and hold the fascia to the front, so there is no adjustment necessary. In other words, pulling the front end off our trucks and putting it back on is pretty much bullet proof. After watching it done, I would not be concerned about having your light's changed out now. It would be difficult for them to screw anything up.......be safe.
Oh, and while the front fascia was off, they took off the "fog light bezels" for me and I ordered the TE versions, which just clip in. Now, just have to black out the chrome bumper trim strip!

Great question and I had the same thought. Since I could not determine the manufacturer date of the new lights, not that I could determine if they were made after the VIN# cut off as per the TSB, we/I might be getting the same "faulty" headlights that were installed in the first place.
But here is the kicker. If these new lights fog up like the old ones and since it was covered once under warranty, as long as it is within a reasonable time, good odds Toyota will cover them again. And by that time, one can be reasonably assured those lights will be the "new and improved" ones......at least those are my thoughts.

I'm a little nervous, not in the mood to start making phone calls and complaining. I brought my truck in to the dealer to address the driveshaft and headlight TSB's. I thought the headlights would be no problem and the driveshaft would be an issue, but the reverse happened- they are replacing the driveshaft (or whatever they do with that) no problem, but told me they sent pictures of my headlights to Toyota, because Toyota has been recommending buffing them out. Though the service guy said it looks bad and like its on the inside. Plus there is a strong rainbow hue as well. We'll see what happens...

I was at the dealer today gonna get mine replaced Wednesday. I asked if I could have the trail headlights instead. No go. I may call service manager on Monday to see if I can't persuade him into the trail version?
