Holy shit, you guys. I’ve been drooling over the progress pics of this bumper since Keith started showing them, what- a couple years ago?! Production started, and I grabbed one ASAP. Keith never fails to amaze me, and this bumper is no different. This bumper is based off [MENTION=118730]AssBurns[/MENTION] bumper- which Keith humbly gives credit to.

Enough nut-swinging on the dude that makes the best products in the Toyota game- check it out.

This might be too my [MENTION=28464]eimkeith[/MENTION] for one picture for some of you [emoji12]

Obviously, I’m not finished. I still need to install all the receiver parts, get backup lights, do some more welding on the rear bottom corners, get a trim panel for the top, and repaint it.

Hey, thanks! I was using a welder that [MENTION=135317]rkntoy[/MENTION] let me borrow, and it worked great. My plan was to leave all the welds showing, but a couple gross spots caused me to smooth every weld out [emoji23]

Yeah, well I haven’t been able to work on the runner much, and also was spending too much time on the forum/my phone [emoji23]

Install thoughts/wisdom?

First of all, everything fit together FLAWLESSLY- the precision of all the holes and fitment is seriously remarkable.
That being said, THE FIRST STEP OF THE INSTALL SHOULD BE TO WELD ALL NUTS ON BEFORE ANYTHING [emoji23] If you miss welding the nuts on the main bumper brackets, you’re gonna have a rough time getting the rear nuts/bolts installed(and- in the event you ever take the bumper off- getting them out!).
Getting the holes in the frame for the wing mount nuts was probably the hardest part for me. The nuts aren’t real big, but once you throw some booger welds on there, the circle/hole/cutout can need to grow significantly. I just don’t have a good tool to make that part very easy.

See above [emoji57] I really hoped all my welds were gonna be good enough to not grind, but they weren’t. I ground the radiused corners out once and reworded them, but when they didn’t turn out good a second time, I decided to smooth them all [emoji19]

Nice, looks awesome! Getting ready to weld up mine this weekend. But I have some questions for you.

Which nuts did you put on the nut strip (the one that goes inside the frame) the big silver ones or the smaller flanged big gold ones?

Also were you able to get the nut strip into the frame with the rear fuel tank cross member in place?

Lastly the driver and passenger side bumper wings use that 90 degree bracket, do you have any pics of that bracket installed?

Trying to figure everything out before I start the install.

Any issues with the stover/pinch nuts? In my past experiences those types of nuts LOVE to strip out bolts. I'll probably ask you more questions so thanks in advance!

Gold on nut strips, silver (larger flange, Bag A) on the frame mounts

Also were you able to get the nut strip into the frame with the rear fuel tank cross member in place?

Tyler drilled access holes - which is a great idea (I'll be adding access through the crossmember in future tank kits) DO you have pictures of those holes Tyler?

Just finished welding most of the nuts on today and will get the rear tank cross member welded up tonight so if [MENTION=116470]Tyler James Inc[/MENTION] has any pics of the access holes he added that would be awesome!

Awesome on the update on the vid. Last question for now, can the hitch portion (frame mounts, 2x2 tube, safety chain and receiver) be all welded up, then the outer bumper skin be welded on over it? Figuring out my welding game plan. Thanks!

Go ahead and draw a line between hole center and hole center on the 2 unthreaded holes in the bottom of the frame (where the nut strips go), come in about an inch from each hole and drill a 3/8" or so hole on that line in the frame - so you can bolt in and then plug weld the nut strips in position - then you don't need an access hole in the crossmember.

Regarding the cross tube and receiver - I'd tack everything first, then pull it off and go at it. What say you [MENTION=116470]Tyler James Inc[/MENTION]?
