time for new tires, recommendations?

2016 trail,,,reasonably modded out as described below, currently have the cooper discovere at3's E rated , mostly do stuff in nevada.

is there a bettter tire? these e rated ones do suck down a bit more gas.

i had heard if you go to a narrower tire it doesn't use as much gas,,,,internet myth?

Pizza cutters might save you a little bit, but not much. They won't be as capable off road except maybe in mud. If you are worried about gas mileage then a 4Runner isn't for you. Seems like a lot of people like Falken Wildpeaks but there are so many choices and nobody has driven them all so one tire brand might good for one but not for another. I think most of the name brands are going to be good tires.
