I have different wheel and tire packages in shopping carts all over the world wide web. It's giving me a headache. I start the new job on the 15th. The pay increase was larger then I expected so new tires and wheels it will be. lol

I know what you mean, researching can get to the point of overkill. You're not the only one, trust me.
This is straight copy and paste from my build thread, pics included!
Super quiet tire, I still can't believe how good they ride. They ride better than my C rated KMs for sure. Not sure if it's the fresh rubber, taller sidewall, newer design, or what, but I'm really happy with how the 4Runner rides now. I couldn't make the tires spin easily like I could before driving home in the rain tonight.
Everything seems to be pretty well off as far as clearance. I rub the fender liner over the pinch weld if I come out of the driveway at a pretty fast speed, so I think I'll probably pull the liner back, bend the pinch weld over, seal it up, paint it, and then put the liner back and reshape it with a heat gun. I don't want to cut the liner.
I'm also very close to the front passenger fender liner thing that protects the washer fluid reservoir. What has anyone done about this? I think that'll probably rub on full compression. I might need to relocate the bottle.
Here's some pics as promised! And yes, the front mudflaps will go back on. They came off for some trimming. I'll put them back on after I finish the pinch welds and fender liners.

DSC07438 by Unner Unner, on FlickrThe rear clears everything, but a bigger/wider tire would be getting pretty close to some stuff. She stuffs the skinny 33's with ease, even with the 861 coils. I love the way the tire looks shoved up in there.

Still happy with them? I'm over searching for deals. I REALLY like the Nitto Ridge but it's 100 bucks more a tire. Amazon is having a stupid deal on the 255/80r17 Cooper ST Maxx. It's 190 a tire. 5 puts me out the door at 950. Plus I get 5% cash back on my card. It's hard to say no to that. Basically I can get 5 tires and rims for the less then 4 Nitto's and rims will cost me. It's hard to say no at this point.

What are your thoughts on the weight of the tire now that you've driven around on them? They are near the top of my list for when I can lift mine, but like you I am concerned about how much they weigh.

I'm still Loving the tires. I've got over 1000 miles on them now and no complaints at all. I say get them.
I wish I wouldn't have worried about weight as much as I did... The truck drives just fine, it's not dangerously slow or anything like that. They do just fine on the highway. Through the hills of SC on I85 I was getting nearly 18 MPG crusing about 70-73. Back roads through the mountains I was getting 19 MPG. Fantastic tires, you only notice the weight when you accelerate from a stop really. I've been leaving my ECT Power button on and it seems to keep the truck in the power band a little better.
I'm running stock 4.10 gears.

Found a set of Cooper AT3 265 75 16 going for $100 a tire on amazon seems like a pretty good deal

Right on. You might have just made my decision for me. Mine was at the tire shop getting an alignment today and the guys there were trying hard to sell me on a new set of 265/70R16s today because my tires are like 6 years old and baaadly cupped from the PO not rotating them.
Looks like I need to order that lift kit sooner than I thought. Crap. :biggrin1:

But glad you got a good set, i'm heavily leaning towards Copper ST PRO next for a more aggressive tire. I looked at the ST Max but wanted something more and PRO's seemed to fir the picture. My MPG hasn't ever been my concern as I always get 15 mpg loaded, unloaded etc. My Duratracs I have been so frustrated on how it grabs gravel and doesn't let them go and Tire Pressure doesn't change what happens...

That price is for 4 ply tires, my personal opinion 4 ply tires insufficient for Runners.

Not off road...but when replacing my 2001 Sport's, the idea of a slightly bigger size without throwing off speed, etc. seemed perfect.
They worked perfect. 265-75-16 Kumho Crugens. It looks SO much beefier parked, yet all fit perfect, with standard 245k suspension.
Lots of options that work well on these. Thankfully these Kumho's have a blocky wide profile too, so they're not just taller and skinny.

I like the sounds of a 34x10.5 Tall yet skinny. Everyone where I live seams to praise the DuraTrack. buddy of mine has 20k+ on a set that ride under a 3/4 ton chevy and they still look new.

I was in the same position last month. Have been trying to decide between 255's and 285's. Ended up with General Grabber AT2's for a good deal in 285's. I like that they're lighter than others and the price was much more reasonable. I'm stock geared with about 2" of lift in the front/3" in the rear, stock bumpers. Needed to do some trimming/pounding in the front but they fit really well and stuff great actually. (so far at least) But either way, MPG's haven't changed too much actually, but I tend to drive a bit more defensively than others. Just putting out another data point

Now that Unner has his tires, I can ask without really hijacking the thread. Besides Super Swamper, is there a larger tire that's narrower? I love my 255/85R16, but plan to move up to the 35 range soon. I just don't NEED a 12.5" tire. Even something in the range of a 34x11 or 11.5 (265/85R16) would be great. I'm just not seeing those options avaliable.
Has anyone seen anything out along those lines? Let's even through out the 17" wheel options.

My quest for tires is finally over. I ended up going the opposite of skinny. 295/70r17 is what I ended up with. Part of the reason is I got a screaming deal on rims. They where 17x9 though. So now I wait for my tires to get here and mount them up. The whole time hoping like hell that my research is correct and the rims and tires clear my UCA. lol
