Do you have any pics of the new front bumper installed? I’ve already got one on order but haven’t seen any really good pics of them installed

There are few photos on this forum and the web in general, but not all that many, especially detailed ones. Not sure when I'll get mine installed, but when I do, I'll get a few here of course...

We had some good rain come through here, and I'm pretty disappointed in the moonroof, again. Before it leaked into the rear if I had the front of the 4Runner on the upside of a slope. Since then I simply had the ass end up instead, and no problems. Well, now that apparently is no longer a "fix"...

I so much want that damn thing gone that I might make it a priority after the rainy season here. Moonroof delete ideas welcome...

With Roy at Savage saying that he simply removed those brackets below the corner lights, I took a look and decided to do the same. On the passenger side, had to remove this (3 10mm bolts, disco electrical connector and hose).

The bracket is secured in the engine bay by a couple washer nuts. Middle of the photo is one, on the side wall...

And the other from the bottom (top middle of image).

And out they came...

A few wheel well liner clips had to removed in the process. I'll likely trim the wheel well liner next then some final touch-up paint before the bumper install...

Note to self, for future reference, I filled the washer fluid reservoir after reinstallation.

Lol I was actually going to go to the wrecker to get another one of those brackets for the side that was damaged. For now I'll put the old damaged OEM bumper back on until I decide what to do and have more $$$. Not sure how important those brackets are for fender placement.

As far as I can tell, and I think Charlie said earlier, those brackets seemingly all about better securing the factory bumper. They do offer some added support for the wheel well liner, but not appreciably so, IMO.

While removal was driven for aesthetic purposes so they would not be seen through the Savage bumper, it's a couple pounds gone and affords a bit more space behind the bumper where I'll be mounting lighting, horns and of course a winch and it's controller...

Sweet, I’m going to do this when I get home haha.. When I was installing my AOR bumper I just cut them cause I wasn’t sure how structural they were further up.

*ALL* sunroofs leak. Yes, really. What you need to do is clear your drain lines to make sure the water is routed out of the truck...

I didn't want a sunroof or Limited as I know about leaks alright.

Upon noticing the leak in the rear last year, I did indeed check the drain lines. Used air and also weed whacker line, per Tim's video. As I recall, one drain hose was disconnected or broken at some point as poured water just drained straight into the rear. I didn't have time then to dork-around with headliner removal.

Maybe it rained so hard that the gutter system just got overwhelmed (couldn't drain fast enough). I had it on a pretty steep slope too. With more rain coming Friday, I'll likely just tarp it.

Had about an hour today and got more prep work done... Still more black to hide the "ugly" behind the new bumper.

Between coats, I decided to work on sealing that vent. I found that a spray can cap has a similar radius bend.

Made a template and it fit well.

Traced and cut-out a piece of aluminum.

I filed the edges and will rough-up the exposed side for painting tomorrow. I'll silicone it into place. It's rated down to -50 degrees F, up to 300 or 400...

That little clip that secures the hood prop busted. 19 years...

Tony, I've got a bag full of the hood prop holders if you want them. However they are not OEM but it will hold you over until an OEM arrives. Pass them along at the next meet&greet to whomever that needs them. I'm in San Carlos/Belmont daily late afternoon or in EastBay. -J

Well I sealed my moon roof. It's reversible (if desired) and no longer leaks at all. Not sure if you saw the pics. I know some consider it blasphemy but it's great being mold free...

Thanks much for the offer! In Morgan Hill, and work from home, so quite a trek. If college football season, I do go to East Bay a few times though. That said, what remains of the clip, it does hold it a little. I think I found something that will work though. I'll post a photo at some point... Thanks again.

Cool. Sounds like you might actually make a functioning flap, like the factory one. I actually thought about that, for about 30 seconds. Decided to just seal it. Mine is curing now. The silicone adhesive I have was previously opened for other projects, and is often the case, they were blocked. I had these two to choose from.

I ended-up going with the XtraBond250, despite it being almond color for a recent bathroom project (Swanstone shower install). It was the fresher of the two and has better temp specs (down to -76F):

So, I used my finger to apply the stuff...

Not seeing an easy way to clamp it, but I found a use for old spray paint caps again...

The other end of the bungee cord was anchored inside the 4Runner at a tie-down spot.

I found four bolts for those pair of holes on each side, and got those cleaned-up, painted and in place. No photo.

Reversible I care about, only because I want to remove the damn thing in its entirety. I voiced such sentiment several times on the forum, even before or shortly after purchasing the 3rd gen (predating the leaks). I've had my share of convertibles over the years, including a Manx dune buggy that I drove to work, I love the open air, and I will have an convertible again... Have a top, or don't have a top, just don't have a hole in the top, lol. I'll search your build thread Brian as I want to see what you did. With a Tahoe trip in a couple months, I don't want to be dorking-around with a tarp while on travel...

While eliminating the water ingress is the driving reason, I also envision use of the space. I'd like to secure a ham radio up there and have like a 12-18" cable run to a roof-mounted antenna. A proven waterproof antenna mount would be used. I have other ideas, possibly a switch/toggle panel or even a hand-controlled spotlight. A thread I started some time back where I have since evolved some ideas...

Instead of a flat piece of sheet metal contoured to the roof and welded, I'm now thinking of a slightly raised cover (an inch or two above the roof line), the leading edge slanted rearward to be more aero-friendly. The rectangular dimensions would be a little larger than the opening, with flanges all the way around that would welded to the roof.

I have some thin cabinet backing wood paneling that should be perfect for mocking something up. Sounds like something fun to do on some rainy days...

I need to close mine off as well since I don't expect the all-weather tape I used to hold up. I am hoping I can do what you did but without removing my rear bumper. There may be enough room I'm not sure but I definitely couldn't make a template very easily with the bumper still in place.

I thought about making a flap but yea too complicated lol, going to seal it. I don’t want to take my bumper off either but I’m thinking I might just pop it out from inside and do the work at the work bench.
Removed those brackets in the front also, since my bracket was already cut in half I left the side that was attached to the fender. Thanks for pointing out where that nut was.

Ash, thanks for sharing that thread. Following.

I almost forgot, but it litterally has your name on it.

Decided to not set-up the corner light as a turn signal, at least at this time. Turn signal wires are done. Both of these lights are for turn signals and flashers.

Anyone know what this is? A little over 2 inches long... It was in the engine bay, down by the intake box.
