Haha the entire truck was covered in it, but most if it blew off on the interstate, except for the tires. Thought it was a pretty cool picture.
Nice pics as always man. I recently bought a set of 255/80/17 km2's and have been really impressed by not only the tire performance itself, but the size. I personally love the look and function of a tall "skinny" tire and get compliments on them all the time. I noticed almost no difference in engine bog when i moved away from my 265/70/17's. They're a load range E. I had a local rock crawler guy with the same tires tell me he's put them through rocks and thorns left and right and never punctured one. Hope my 2 cents helps a tough decision!![]()

Yeah I like the skinny tires as well, whatever I go with it will be a 255. The only thing with the KM2s is they're a Mud Tire and I'm almost positive I would rather go with an all terrain this time around, or something that is at least siped.
I would go for the 255/80r17 if I were you...
That's the size I want, but I also don't want to make this rig any slower. I'm debating how much worse my gas mileage and acceleration would be with the extra .6" of tire diameter and 8 lbs or so a tire.
Also rented a 2017 Ram 1500 Hemi this weekend to move some furniture for my girlfriend. The Ram moved so effortlessly on the interstate, especially up hills, but even driving a truck with 400 hp, heated seats, heated steering wheel, air conditioned seats, and every other feature under the sun I couldn't help but miss my truck.
I have about 2.25" rake unloaded and I like it!
Nice Unner! Your build always makes me think of a super clean black 4runner that got snatched up befoearly I could buy it. I like what got going on with it. I need to update my thread as well. I got a lot done in a short amount of time. I have been waiting a bit for a chance to get out into some scenery to get some non driveway update shots.
As for rake, I love mine and super glad I went that route. I did a SS rear lift with King 2.5 coilovers up front. I even set the CO's a bit on the high side because I knew skids and winch would soon follow. I would say throw those 861s on, especially with your rear bumper/ swing out.
The pick in front of the ice cream shop is right after lift installed. The second pic is after sliders and skids.
Well you ended up with a nice 4Runner anyway! The new bumper looks good on there. How much rake does your's have measurement wise? I want to put them in, but don't want to ride around like a stink bug anytime the truck is unloaded...
So after adding skids and whatnot, it looks like I ended up with about 2.5 inch lift up front with about 4 to 4.5 lift out back. So about a 2 inch rake.
I plan to give it a little time, especially after installing my winch with cable, to see where the front ends up. I can crank the front COs up a bit as needed to maintain my rake. I am unloaded in the rear. I really like the comfort of the ride. It feels super smooth overall on these unloaded 7 wraps with Tokico shocks. But you may want to find out people that switched to 861s specifically. It seems that a ton of our members running a swing out rear bumper end up with these. As to their comfort, I can't comment. Otherwise, I suppose there are Superflex, or LC 8 or 9 wraps, (that might balance out with your additional bumper weight in the rear.) Do you just want to make sure you are not sagging when loaded, or do you want a bit more rear lift overall? I would think that you could adjust your front coilovers so that the wreck was not so extreme. Obviously I imagine there is some break in time as well where are the rear would settle.

Haven't been in here in a while. All looks good man, hope all is well!
Thanks for stopping in Matt. I'm good, hope everything is going well for you too. Maybe this summer we can meet up somewhere in NC and do some wheeling or head to the outer banks like I've been talking about. The timing just didn't work out with the weather and hurricane during the fall and spring. I'm thinking this summer may be good though.
My 8 wraps were a real bltch to get in. Took me, a friend & a 4' crow bar to force them in. It's not something I'd like to do ever again. LOL

Did you disconnect the shocks when putting the coils in? I had no issues putting my 8 wraps in. Shit, I can almost pull mine out without disconnecting the shocks.

I would definitely be in. It's a pretty quick drive for me and I get down there whenever I have the chance. Depending on when your school's spring break is and what you're doing, I may try and camp down there for a few days and you're more than welcome to join(if you don't make it to Moab). No plans set however since there's still plenty of time.

And to think, some run 9 wraps...
I like the look, feel, and function of the rake. I will work to maintain this stance and address if it levels out over time.
Unner I hear what you are saying concerning not wanting to raise the front end geometry. I think mine is set pretty mild and don't want to jack it up and stress the front geometry much as well.
I would swap out what you have and see how you like it. Ride characteristics can be subjective and I take information for what it is and with a grain of salt.
