Weathertech mats and our gas pedal

I have yet to have the pedal recall done and also have had the WT liners for well over a year... Never had a problem with the pedal until just a few months ago. I had just left a full service car wash and was accelerating to get on I35 and the 4runner just took off. I immediately reached down and grabbed the liner off of the pedal (meanwhile some people giving me the finger). Turns out the car wash folks didn't reconnect the mat to the mounting hooks. I sent them a stern yet friendly reminder eMail that these hooks do have a purpose and they should reconnect them once finished vacuuming. As long as you use the hooks to hold the mat in place you will be fine.

I agree that much of this issue is BS. I have had my Weathertech mats for four years with absolutely no issues.

not to be a downer on this very helpful thread, but I think the OP and anyone else wondering gets the point by now..
