dead tired.. Just got off a 12hr graveyard shift...
got home and slept for 2 hrs and unwrapped this:
I prepared the legs first. made it really loose. And with the help of my 4'11" Wife... I lifted the whole rack; while she guided it onto the roof. We draped a old comforter on top of the roof.
Started to bolt it down and tighten everything ...
bolted the wind deflector
Wifey testing out the ladder and the rack ...
Mounted my Rigid Radiance 40" Light Bar ... still need a wiring harness and switches. bought some switches and they didnt fit. Just need to figure out where to route it ...

Overall I'm happy with it so far. It screams, "the guy who built me is NOT a carpenter" ...but I like it.
Got her covered in carpet and 4 point anchored into the cargo area. Just need to finish the drawers.

Recovery Point & Bridle
I ordered a 2nd recovery point from Toyota for the right rear corner of the frame. It's the same piece used for the left rear recovery/anchor point. The threaded holes are already there above the tailpipe. Cost is $139 with 2 bolts and 9% CA sales tax. The exhaust tailpipe will have to be rerouted to clear anything I put on the recovery loop. I may shorten the tailpipe or turn it sideways behind the rear tire.
I also ordered some Sampson Amsteel Blue 1/2" line from LFS Marine. Capacity in a single pull is 30,600 pounds (13,900 kg) compared to 17,600 pounds for 3/8" line. When used as a bridle with a snatch block that 1/2" line has a capacity of about 58,140 pounds. That's way more than what's needed for a static pull but worth having for a dynamic pull with a snatch strap.
Splicing Tools and Accessories - Rope & Line
I ordered the Sampson Splicing Manual, also available on Amazon, and a tubular splicing fid. I plan to make my own eyes at each end of a 10 to 12 foot section to form a bridle. After paying for the book and tool the first 1/2" bridle will cost a bit more than a 3/8" bridle but the 2nd one will cost less. I may make these for a few friends if it comes out well.

AmSteel®-Blue outlasts wire 3:1, making it an excellent wire rope replacement. It has extremely low stretch and superior flex fatigue and wear resistance. Samthane coating enhances that already high abrasion and cut resistance. "
Southeast Overland makes these bridles in 3/8" Sampson rope for a few dollars more ($20) than I will spend on the line.

did this a few weeks back, if it's not too late check partznet.com, they have the loop (51095-60030) for $72.72 and 2 bolts (91642-81235) for $3.52. i think all in it's about $90

Found an open lot being used as a gravel dump and exercised my 4WD in what I could find for mud. Next time I'll leave the poor dog at home, she got bounced around a little too much for my liking.
